NEEWER NS92P 35.4-inch Octagonal Softbox with Bowens Mount, Diffusers & Grid

For portrait sessions, product photos or video setups, the NEEWER NS92P helps shape a light source into a broader, softer spread. Its 35.4-inch octagonal design uses a silver interior to diffuse and reflect light, while two diffuser layers let you soften the output further for a more controlled look.

A Bowens mount connects the softbox to compatible studio strobes and continuous LED lights, and its quick-release design makes setup and pack-down straightforward.

Key takeaways

The included internal and external diffusers can be used together for softer, more diffused light. Add the honeycomb grid when you want to direct the beam at 45° and reduce light spill. That combination gives you practical control over whether the scene calls for a broad, gentle spread or a more focused effect that helps define facial features.

The softbox opens and locks with a push on the mounting plate. Hook-and-loop fasteners secure the diffuser layers and grid, and release latches let you fold the ribs inward when it is time to pack up. The set includes the NS92P softbox, two diffuser panels, a honeycomb grid, a carrying bag and a user manual.

Buyers often highlight how quickly it opens and closes, along with its soft light and portability. Those qualities can be useful when moving between portrait locations or adjusting a lighting setup between shots.

Who it’s for

This modifier suits photographers and video creators using a Bowens-mount light who want a softbox for portraits, beauty and fashion work, weddings, corporate headshots or product photography. It is listed as compatible with lights including the Aputure 120D, Godox SL60w, SmallRig RC 120D and RC 120B, and a range of NEEWER models. Compared with using a bare light, the diffusers give you a way to soften the light, while the grid offers a more directed option when controlling spill matters.

Usage tips

Attach the softbox to a compatible Bowens mount, then secure the diffuser or grid with the fasteners. For a softer, more diffused effect, combine the internal and external diffuser panels. To narrow the spread and reduce spill, use the honeycomb grid. The quick-release plate and folding ribs make it easier to move the modifier between setups, store it in the included bag for transport.

When it makes sense

Choose the NS92P when you want one octagonal modifier that can handle both soft, broad lighting and more controlled direction. For a portrait, the diffuser layers can soften the light, while the grid lets you shape where it falls. For product work, the same options help tailor the lighting to the subject and scene. Its 35.4-inch format and foldable design make it a practical fit for a studio kit that also needs to travel between shoots.
