DJI Osmo Mobile 8 190021165779 Phone Gimbal with 360° Tracking

Three-axis stabilization helps smooth phone footage as you move, while native tracking keeps a subject in frame. The DJI Osmo Mobile 8 is designed for filming video with a cell phone, from everyday clips to moving shots.

Its 360° pan rotation, built-in extension rod and tripod give you more ways to frame a scene. Extend your reach for a wider group shot, or set the gimbal down for hands-free filming.

If you mainly need a simple grip for steady, stationary clips, a basic phone holder may suit that job. For moving footage, subject tracking and flexible framing, this gimbal brings more shooting options together.

Worth noting

Native tracking helps follow a person or other subject as they move, making it useful for walking videos, vlogging and filming pets or kids in action. The 360° horizontal pan adds room for sweeping shots, while three-axis stabilization is built to help keep handheld video smooth.

The built-in extension rod and tripod support different setups without requiring a separate selfie stick or stand. Hold it for low-angle footage, extend it for group selfies, or use the tripod for a hands-free view at a gathering. The gimbal has a stated battery life of 10 hours, and it can charge a phone while filming—a practical pairing for events, travel and live streaming.

The Standard Combo includes the Osmo Mobile 8 device, a magnetic phone clamp, USB-C phone charging/audio recording cable, USB-C power cable and storage pouch. The clamp connects the phone to the foldable gimbal, and the pouch gives you a place to store the kit between shoots.

Buyers highlight the tracking and describe the gimbal as straightforward to operate, with some appreciating the app’s controls. Feedback on stability is mixed, so it’s useful to handle and set up the gimbal carefully when filming.

Tips for day-to-day use

For a moving shot, attach your cell phone with the magnetic clamp, connect it to the gimbal and use native tracking to follow your subject. This can help when you want to stay in the scene rather than keep adjusting the phone by hand. For a group clip or a stationary recording, extend the rod or set up the built-in tripod to change the camera position.

The gimbal is listed as compatible with cell phones and weighs 353 g. Its folded size is 19 cm (l) x 4.6 cm (w) x 9.5 cm (h), making the folded format easy to consider when planning a travel or everyday filming kit. The product is black, and the included USB-C cables support the stated phone charging and power connections.

Everyday use

At a family gathering, the tripod can hold a hands-free shot while the tracking feature follows movement across the frame. On a walk, the three-axis gimbal and tracking can help capture video without needing to keep the phone pointed manually at every moment. For travel clips, the extension rod offers another angle for selfies and wider scenes.

This is a phone-first filming tool: it combines stabilization, tracking and adjustable positioning in one foldable gimbal. That makes it a practical alternative to carrying a separate phone grip, selfie stick and small stand when those functions are useful in the same outing.

Is it worth it?

Choose the Osmo Mobile 8 if you want more control over handheld phone video than a basic holder provides. Native tracking, 360° pan rotation and three-axis stabilization serve moving subjects, while the built-in rod and tripod cover both extended-reach and hands-free shots. Its 10-hour battery life and phone-charging support also suit longer filming sessions, making it a useful fit for vlogging, travel, family moments and other cell-phone video.
