Chained Soldier: Season 1 Blu-ray, Widescreen Japanese-Language Anime

Widescreen Blu-ray presentation gives Chained Soldier: Season 1 a home-viewing format suited to following its fantasy action on a TV setup.

The story follows Yuuki Wakura, whose encounter with the monster-filled Mato dimension changes his future and brings him into Kyouka Uzen’s combat unit.

With a five-hour runtime and Japanese-language presentation, this release suits viewers looking for a longer anime story rather than a standalone movie.

The essentials

Yuuki’s life takes an unexpected turn when he is pulled into Mato, a dangerous dimension filled with monsters. Kyouka Uzen rescues him, and her ability transforms him into a powerful fighter—while placing him in a bond that shapes their relationship. His role extends beyond combat: he is also expected to serve Kyouka’s all-female unit. That blend of supernatural battles, unusual power dynamics, and team life gives the season several story threads to follow.

The release is on Blu-ray in widescreen format, with Japanese listed as the language and a runtime of five hours. Its NR rating means it is not rated. For anime fans choosing between a quick, self-contained movie and a longer story to settle into, the season format and substantial runtime make this a fit for the latter kind of viewing.

Everyday use

This edition is well suited to a planned anime night or to watching the story across multiple sessions. The widescreen format is designed for viewing on a widescreen display, while the Blu-ray format identifies the disc type to use with a compatible Blu-ray player. Japanese-language presentation makes the original listed language part of the viewing experience. The NR rating is useful context when deciding whether the title suits the household or viewing group.

Rather than centering on a single battle, the premise connects Yuuki’s transformation to his ongoing place in Kyouka’s unit. That makes the release a natural choice for viewers who want both action and the character dynamics around it. A viewer looking specifically for a brief movie-length watch may prefer a shorter format, this season is the better match when the aim is to spend more time with its central setup and cast.

Tips for day-to-day use

For a straightforward setup, use a Blu-ray player and a widescreen display, then allow time for the five-hour runtime across the viewing sessions that suit you. If you are selecting a title for a group, the NR rating and Japanese-language presentation are helpful details to consider in advance. Keeping the disc with your other Blu-ray titles also makes it easy to find when you want to return to the season.

The premise is a useful guide to the mood of the watch: expect a fantasy setting, monster encounters, combat, and the contrasting duties Yuuki takes on in Kyouka’s unit. It is a story-led pick for viewers drawn to anime that combines supernatural action with an unconventional partnership.

Final verdict

Choose Chained Soldier: Season 1 on Blu-ray if you want a widescreen anime release with Japanese-language presentation and enough runtime for an extended story. Yuuki’s move into Mato, his transformation through Kyouka’s ability, and his place in her unit give the season a clear central hook for a focused watch at home.
