How to use it
Play the DVD for a full-length movie session, whether you’re revisiting the film or introducing its unusual Eastwick story to someone new. The plot begins with Alexandra, Jane, and Sukie expressing a wish for a man who can challenge their spirits, when that wish takes shape, their quaint New England town becomes the setting for the film’s comic, supernatural turn. That premise makes it a natural fit for a dark-comedy lineup or a Halloween movie night.
Choose the audio track and subtitle option that works for your viewing setup. English audio is listed in Dolby Digital 5.1, while French audio is listed in Dolby Digital 1.0, subtitles are available in English, French, and Spanish. The R rating is useful to keep in mind when selecting a movie for a group or household.
Who it’s for
This disc is suited to viewers drawn to ensemble casts, supernatural plots, and comedy with a darker edge. Nicholson’s role as the mysterious man who enters the women’s lives gives the story a strong central contrast, while Cher, Sarandon, and Pfeiffer bring the three witches to the forefront. It can also appeal to movie fans who enjoy returning to familiar films: buyers describe it as entertaining and memorable, and highlight the cast and dark humor.
Customer reactions to the audio are mixed. Some praise the background music, while others report problems hearing dialogue, so those comments are worth considering if clear vocals are a priority for your viewing experience. Opinions about the DVD’s value also vary.
Should you buy it?
A solid pick if you want a physical DVD built around a recognizable ensemble, a supernatural premise, and darkly comic storytelling. It brings together comedy and drama in a feature-length story, with multiple audio and subtitle choices and a setting that suits a seasonal movie night as readily as a general film collection. For viewers choosing between a straightforward comedy and a more offbeat fantasy with comic turns, The Witches of Eastwick offers the latter, led by Nicholson, Cher, Sarandon, and Pfeiffer.
