Buyers often praise the film’s visual style, story, and appeal across age groups. These comments describe viewer preferences, not a guarantee that every family will respond the same way.
How to use it
Choose the Blu-ray or DVD according to the player you plan to use. The combo format can be useful in a household with access to either format, or if you want both versions in one set. English, French, and Spanish subtitles are listed, along with audio tracks in those languages, check your setup’s playback options if a particular track or subtitle choice matters to your viewing plans.
The story’s contrast between Coraline’s ordinary home and the unsettling alternate world makes it a fit for an evening movie where viewers are ready for suspense alongside animation. Compared with choosing a single-format release, this set offers both Blu-ray and DVD. It is still a movie purchase, rather than a broader collection of films from the same studio.
Box contents
The listed edition is a Blu-ray and DVD combo. Its special features include animation test footage, an “Inside LAIKA” featurette, a foreword by Peter Debruge, audio commentary with director Henry Selick and composer Bruno Coulais, making-of material, original featurettes, deleted scenes, and feature-length storyboards. The listing does not specify additional physical items beyond the discs.
Before you decide
Is this edition available in more than one format? Yes. The product is listed as a Blu-ray + DVD combo, giving you both formats.
What language options are listed? English is the stated language, with English, French, and Spanish subtitles and audio tracks in those languages.
Is it suitable for younger children? It is rated PG, but some buyers consider its creepy scenes too intense for younger viewers. The film’s eerie tone may be a better fit for children who are comfortable with spooky stories.
When it makes sense
A solid pick if you want Coraline in a combo edition with both Blu-ray and DVD, plus listed bonus features. It also makes sense for viewers drawn to stop-motion fantasy with a darker edge than a lighthearted family animation. Not the best choice if you need a movie without unsettling scenes, or if you only want one format and have no use for the other disc.
