Practical tips
Set aside the full 2 hours and 8 minutes for a complete viewing. The film’s central mystery unfolds through the people investigating the disappearance, so it works well for a movie night when you want a story to follow as well as horror atmosphere. If you are choosing between a direct, creature-focused horror movie and a suspense-led mystery, Weapons is the more mystery-driven pick: its premise revolves around an unexplained event and the community trying to understand it.
The English Dolby Digital 5.1 audio is listed as the DVD’s sound format. Customer comments often highlight the eerie mood, unusual story, and cast performances. Reactions to pacing vary, with some viewers finding the beginning slower, while others enjoy how the mystery develops. That mix makes it a natural choice for viewers who appreciate suspense that takes time to establish its questions.
What you get
This is the DVD edition of Weapons, a feature-length horror mystery from writer-director Zach Cregger. The premise begins with the disappearance of all but one student from a class, drawing their teacher Justine, played by Julia Garner, and Archer, a father played by Josh Brolin, into separate efforts to find out what happened. Alden Ehrenreich plays Paul, a police officer caught up in the investigation, while Benedict Wong plays the school principal, Marcus.
The story’s appeal lies in the collision of personal concern and a mystery affecting the wider community.
