Yellow Mountain Imports HZ-BG006-A Travel Backgammon Set, Magnetic Checkers, 9-Inch Board

For two players who want to bring a strategy game along, the Yellow Mountain Imports HZ-BG006-A packs a backgammon board and its playing pieces into a folding case. Its travel-size format makes it easy to carry for a game away from home.

The 9-inch board has magnetic checkers, a velour playing field and black-and-orange leatherette pips. The case folds around the game and closes with a zipper, keeping the pieces together between sessions.

Looking for a compact alternative to a larger board for home-only play? This set is designed to make backgammon portable without leaving the game accessories behind.

What you’ll notice day to day

The magnetic checker design helps keep pieces in place during play, while the folding case gives the board a defined space to store the game between turns or trips. Open it on a shared table at a cottage, during a travel stop or at home when you want a two-player game that can be put away neatly afterwards.

The playing surface is arranged with sections for checkers and accessories, and the black-and-orange details give the board a distinctive look. The set includes two sets of 15 plastic checkers, four dice, a doubling cube, two leatherette dice cups and a game manual. That gives players the core pieces for a backgammon match in one portable package.

Worth noting

The case is made from faux leather, and the checkers are plastic with magnetic features. The board measures 9 inches and folds in half, when closed, the case measures 9 x 7 x 2 inches. Its compact format favours easy packing and storage, whereas a larger board may suit someone whose priority is a more spacious playing area at home.

Buyer feedback often highlights the portable case, size and appearance, as well as enjoyment of the game. Opinions are mixed on the magnetic components, value and durability, so those points are best understood as individual experiences rather than a promise of how every set will perform.

Who it’s for

This set is intended for two people who enjoy classic strategy games and want a board that can travel with them. It’s a good fit if you want a physical game for a weekend away, a visit with friends or a quiet evening at home, and prefer a folding case to storing a separate board and pieces. The game contains small parts, so keep them away from young children who may put them in their mouths.

When it makes sense

Choose this travel-size set when bringing backgammon along matters as much as having the pieces ready to play.
