Yellow Mountain Imports FX-CM006-A Bleau Opal Chinese Mahjong Set, 146 Tiles

Set out a traditional Chinese Mahjong game for four with the YMI Bleau Opal set. Its 146 engraved tiles pair authentic Chinese characters with a teal bamboo motif, while the blue vinyl case keeps the set together for play at home or on the go.

The design is made for Chinese Mahjong play, with the classic tile groups and accessories to support a complete game. English instructions help players get started or refresh the rules.

Product specs

• Set: Bleau Opal Chinese Mahjong
• Tiles: 146 melamine tiles, engraved with Chinese characters and symbols
• Tile groups: 36 circles, 36 bamboos, 36 characters, 12 dragons, 16 winds, 8 flowers and seasons, and 2 blank spares
• Players: 4
• Case: Blue vinyl
• Included components: Dice, wind indicator, game manual and Mahjong tiles

The traditional tile selection is the defining feature here: it centres the set on Chinese Mahjong rather than adding pieces for other rule systems. Three dice and a wind indicator support play, and the manual is in English. Racks and pushers are not included, so players can use their own where needed.

What it works with

This set is intended for traditional Chinese Mahjong rules. It is not compatible with American or Western Mahjong or Japanese Riichi rules, which use different tile requirements or gameplay conventions. If you’re choosing between a Chinese-style set and one designed to accommodate another format, this set keeps the focus on Chinese play and its classic characters and symbols.

It’s designed for four players, making it a natural fit for a family game night or a regular table with friends. The case makes it easier to keep the tiles and accessories together between sessions, or carry them to another indoor game space. The game is intended for indoor use, and the manufacturer recommends it for ages 12 and up.

Getting the most from it

Keep the tiles, dice and wind indicator together in the case so the essentials are ready when it’s time to play. The English manual offers a useful starting point for learning the game, while the traditional tile groups give players the pieces for Chinese Mahjong. Want a set focused on the classic Chinese format rather than a multi-rule approach? The Bleau Opal’s rules-specific design makes that distinction clear.

Buyers praise the set’s appearance, tile size and enjoyable gameplay. Feedback on the case quality is mixed, so those impressions are best treated as individual experiences rather than a guarantee. The teal engraving and blue case give the set a distinctive look, while the 146-piece selection keeps the focus on the game itself.

Should you buy it?

Choose the YMI Bleau Opal if your table plays traditional Chinese Mahjong and you want a four-player set with engraved, character-led tiles, an English manual and a carry case. Its clearly defined format helps match the set to the rules you play, and the included dice and wind indicator bring practical game essentials together. For a dedicated Chinese Mahjong session at home or with friends, it offers a focused, portable set built around the classic game.
