Yellow Mountain Imports US-CF010-A Chinese Mahjong Set, Champagne Gold, 148 Tiles

Champagne-gold tiles with engraved Chinese characters and Western numerals make it easy to follow the markings as play moves around the table. This four-player set brings together the pieces and accessories for Chinese-style mahjong, with a compartmentalized wooden case to keep everything organized between games.

If you’re choosing between different rule sets, this one is designed for Chinese gameplay rather than American/Western or Japanese/Riichi play. That makes it a practical fit for players who want a dedicated Chinese-style set for indoor games with family or friends.

Technical overview

The set contains 148 medium-size tiles: circles, bamboos, characters, dragons, winds, flowers and seasons, plus four blank spares. The champagne-gold look adds a distinctive touch, while the engraved Chinese characters and Arabic (Western) numerals help players read the tile faces. The tiles measure 3.4 x 2.5 x 1.9 centimetres.

The compartmentalized wooden veneer case measures 38.8 x 27.7 x 5.6 centimetres, giving the tiles and accessories their own organized places. An instruction manual supports players learning or refreshing the game’s rules. The set is intended for four players and indoor use.

Some buyers highlight the set’s appearance, colour, tile quality and playability. Feedback on size, durability and weight is more mixed, so the medium-size format is worth keeping in mind when choosing a set for your table.

Usage tips

Set out the tiles and accessories before play, then use the decorative wooden spinner to determine seating placement. The three dice and scoring sticks support the session, while the English instruction manual can help players follow the Chinese-style game. The character and number markings also make the tiles easier to distinguish as players build and read their hands.

For a group that wants Chinese rules, this set provides a focused alternative to choosing a broader set intended for a different mahjong style. It is suited to a regular indoor game night, as well as to players introducing the game to friends who want to learn its tile symbols and structure. For American/Western or Japanese/Riichi play, choose a set designed for those rules instead.

In the box

The set includes the 148 tiles, three dice, 120 scoring sticks, a decorative wooden wind indicator for seating placement, an English instruction manual and the compartmentalized wooden veneer case. Racks and pushers are not included, so players who use them can plan their table setup accordingly.
