Pieviev PIE-003 Double-Layer Cat Litter Mat, Gray EVA, Waterproof Base

If you want more than a surface to step on after the litter box, the Pieviev PIE-003 is designed to catch scattered litter and help protect the floor beneath it. Its double-layer honeycomb structure collects particles as your cat leaves the box, while the waterproof lower layer helps keep moisture from reaching floors or carpet.

The soft gray EVA mat measures 29.92 x 24.02 x 0.39 inches, giving litter a broad landing area around the box.

Key takeaways

The two layers serve different purposes: the honeycomb top catches loose litter, and the lower layer forms a water-resistant barrier. To empty the mat, lift it so the collected particles fall between the layers, then tip them back into the litter box. This capture-and-release design is useful for keeping track of loose litter without relying only on repeated sweeping.

Made from soft EVA, the mat is washable and can be rinsed with a hose when it needs a more thorough clean. The bottom is also described as slip-resistant, helping the mat stay in place during everyday use. Its rectangular shape and gray color make it a practical fit beside a litter box in a laundry area, bathroom, or other home space.

Buyer feedback often highlights litter capture and easier floor cleanup. Opinions are mixed on size and durability, and some customers mention that the mat does not always lie completely flat. These comments reflect differing experiences, while the design’s main purpose remains clear: catch tracked particles and make them easier to collect.

Everyday use

Place the mat where your cat steps out of the litter box, with the honeycomb surface facing up. As litter clings to paws, the openings help collect it instead of leaving every particle directly on the surrounding floor. When it is time to clean, lift the mat and return sifted litter to the box, or wash the EVA surface to remove dirt. For a spill or mess on the mat, the manufacturer describes rinsing it off and letting it dry.

Compared with choosing a simple flat surface that only sits beneath the box, this layered design gives you a way to gather and release trapped litter. That can be especially handy when you want to recover loose litter instead of sweeping it away each time. The waterproof base adds another practical layer for protecting the floor from moisture.

Best use cases

This mat is suited to everyday use beside cat litter boxes, including hooded and self-cleaning styles. The manufacturer describes it as suitable for all types of cat litter, and its larger honeycomb openings are intended to catch scattered particles. It can work well in a home where litter tends to spread around the box, or where a washable surface is preferable to cleaning the floor directly after every scatter.

For example, set it at the box exit in a bathroom or laundry room. The cat steps onto the textured top, stray litter gathers between the layers, and you can lift the mat to empty or rinse it as needed. The soft material also gives paws a cushioned surface around the box.

Is it worth it?

Worth considering if you want a litter mat that combines particle collection with a waterproof lower layer. The Pieviev PIE-003 makes cleanup more direct: lift to release captured litter, or wash the EVA mat when it needs attention. Its 29.92 x 24.02-inch footprint gives you a defined area around the litter box, while the dual-layer construction addresses both tracking and floor protection. For a cat’s litter-box area, it brings those two useful functions together in one washable mat.
