HP Mini PC Intel Core i5-14500

For office teams, small businesses, and home-office users who need a compact Windows desktop with room for several displays, the HP EliteDesk 800 G9 Mini PC puts a Core i5-14500 processor and 16GB of DDR5 memory in a small chassis.

It’s built for everyday business work that can get demanding: switching among browser tabs, spreadsheets, communication apps, and larger work files. Windows 11 Pro is included.

If you prioritize a tidy desk and multiple screens, this layout has an appeal, if you prefer a computer for graphics-heavy work, the listed Intel UHD 770 graphics deserve closer consideration. It’s a great fit if you want a small business desktop rather than a large tower.

Where it shines

The compact 6.97 x 6.89 x 1.35-inch design, weighing 3.13 pounds, can help keep a crowded desk clear, and the included VESA mount gives you the option to attach it out of sight. A practical setup might place the PC behind a monitor while you use the included wired keyboard and mouse at the desk. That’s a more space-conscious approach than buying a conventional tower, especially when expansion space inside the case is not your priority.

The Core i5-14500 combines six P-cores and eight E-cores, with speeds up to 5.0GHz, and the system has 16GB of DDR5 memory plus a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. Those are useful foundations for multitasking and business applications. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and Gigabit Ethernet cover common connection needs, while Windows 11 Pro includes features such as BitLocker, Remote Desktop, domain join, and Hyper-V.

Display support needs a closer look before you plan a workstation around it. The product name says triple-display support, while the description claims up to four simultaneous 4K displays. The listed connections include two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C, but that discrepancy makes it sensible to confirm the supported display count for your intended setup.

Quick overview

This is a small business-focused desktop, not simply a low-power box for basic browsing. The processor and memory configuration may suit users who run several business apps at once, and the SSD gives you 512GB for software and files. The description also lists six USB-A ports, USB-C at 20Gbps, a headset jack, and wired networking, so it can serve as a desk hub for peripherals without taking up tower space.

One limit is the graphics detail: Intel UHD 770 is the graphics solution named in the listing, with no discrete graphics card specified. That makes the PC easier to assess for office tasks than for video editing, CAD, or other graphics-intensive workloads, those uses are mentioned in the product description, but no performance results are supplied. Better avoided if your purchase depends on a guaranteed graphics-workstation experience.

Best use cases

The strongest case is a fixed work desk where a compact footprint matters and the workload centers on business software, multitasking, and connecting peripherals. A home-office user could mount the unit behind a display, connect over Ethernet, and keep the desktop surface available for paperwork or a laptop. It also makes sense for a company that values Windows 11 Pro management and security features over a roomier tower-style computer.

The included wired keyboard and mouse help make the package usable at a desk without selecting those basics separately. They may not suit someone who specifically wants wireless accessories, and the listing gives no details about keyboard layout or mouse features. Likewise, the compact design is a space-saving benefit, not evidence of easy internal upgrades, upgrade options are not described here.

When it makes sense

Choose this EliteDesk when a small business desktop, Windows 11 Pro, and a capable listed processor matter more than a large case or specified dedicated graphics. Its size and VESA-mount option are practical for a clean, multi-screen office, provided the display-count mismatch is resolved for your setup. If your priority is graphics-heavy creation, a system with clearly specified discrete graphics is a more straightforward comparison. The main decision is whether the compact business configuration fits your actual workload, not just the ambitious use cases named in the listing.
