• Dimensions: 24 x 30.2 x 160.7 cm (D x W x H)

The unit has six open compartments, with some shelves adjustable to three height positions in 3 cm increments. Each compartment has a stated maximum static load of 10 kg. That makes it worth planning what you want to display before assembly, particularly if you have heavier books or objects. The supplied anti-tip kit is intended to secure the bookcase to a wall, the manufacturer recommends using it for safety.

Best use cases

This layout suits items you want to see and reach easily: books, plants or keepsakes can each have a place without doors to open. Its 30.2 cm width is relevant if you are fitting storage into a narrower part of a room, while the 160.7 cm height uses vertical space. The adjustable shelf positions offer some flexibility for taller objects, though the unit remains a set of open compartments rather than a cabinet for hiding clutter.

Buyer feedback is positive about the appearance and sturdiness, and some people say it fits well in smaller spaces. Opinions on its size are mixed, however: some find it suitable for a compact area, while others expected a larger bookcase. The listed dimensions are therefore more useful than relying on impressions alone when deciding where it will go.

Everyday use

For a home office, it could keep frequently used books and a few display items together, in a living room, the same open layout makes ornaments easy to arrange. It is a more organised approach than leaving items on a desk or scattered across a surface, but it will not provide the hidden storage of a unit with doors or boxes. Storage boxes are not included.

Assembly is described as straightforward, with labelled parts and detailed instructions supplied. The maker also says to wipe the surface with a damp cloth for routine care. A solid pick if you want slim, open shelving with some scope to alter shelf heights. Better avoided if you need enclosed storage or have not got a suitable place to secure a tall freestanding unit to the wall.

Questions before you buy

Are all the shelves adjustable? No. The product details say some shelves can be set at three heights, with 3 cm increments, they do not say that every shelf moves.

Does it come with storage boxes? No. The listed contents include the bookcase, an accessory kit, an anti-tip kit and instructions, but not storage boxes.

Does the bookcase need wall fixing? It is freestanding, but an anti-tip kit is included and the manufacturer recommends attaching it to the wall for safety.

Should you buy it?

Choose this VASAGLE if the dimensions suit your space and you want books or display pieces kept visible across six tiers. The adjustable positions add useful flexibility, but the shelf layout is open and the stated load limit is 10 kg per compartment. Check the available floor space and plan to use the anti-tip kit before settling on it, if you need doors or a larger-feeling storage unit, a different layout may suit you better.
