Ravensburger GraviTrax Elements 27465 Vertical Cannon Marble Run Element

For children aged 8 and up who enjoy building marble runs and exploring how motion works, the GraviTrax Vertical Cannon adds a clear new action to the track. It sends a marble upwards, helping routes overcome height differences and giving builders another way to shape a run. Choose a straightforward track for continuous rolling, or add this element when you want a more surprising change in direction and height.

Practical tips

The Vertical Cannon is designed to bring a marble back into play at a higher point on the track. Load the element with three marbles, when the fourth marble reaches it, that marble shoots upwards and adds fresh momentum to the run. This makes it useful for layouts where you want to build upwards or introduce a noticeable change in the marble’s journey, rather than simply extending a route across the same level.

Use it as part of a GraviTrax track and plan the surrounding sections so the marble can travel into and away from the element. It is an indoor, manually operated piece, so children can focus on arranging the route and watching how the moving marbles affect the action. As they experiment with track placement, the cannon gives them a practical way to explore gravity, kinetic force and cause and effect through play.

Everyday use

A simple run is a good fit when the aim is to keep marbles moving along a basic path. The Vertical Cannon suits a different kind of building session: one where the track needs a lift, a new obstacle to solve or an extra action point. For example, a child can add it to a home-built layout and adjust the sections around it until the upward launch leads into the next part of the course. That hands-on process encourages creative building while making the movement of the marbles part of the fun.

It is an extension element, so it is used with a GraviTrax Starter Set rather than as a complete marble run on its own. The GraviTrax system’s products can be combined, giving builders room to expand an existing layout and try new track ideas over time.

Before you decide

What does the Vertical Cannon do? It sends a marble upwards when the element is used in a track, adding a height change and a fresh action to the marble’s route. The element is loaded with three marbles, and the fourth marble shoots upwards.

Can it be used on its own? It is an extension for GraviTrax tracks and needs a Starter Set for the track layout it joins. It can then be incorporated into a wider GraviTrax build.

What age is it intended for? The recommended age is 8 years and up, making it suitable for school-age builders who enjoy hands-on track design and experimenting with motion.

When it makes sense

Choose the Vertical Cannon when an existing GraviTrax layout needs more than another length of track. Its upward launch creates a distinct moment in the run and gives children a practical reason to rethink heights, routes and marble movement. It is especially useful for builders who want to develop a track with more varied action while exploring scientific principles through play.
