Product description

Three build options give this dinosaur set more than one direction for play. Children can make a Diplodocus and T. rex, a Triceratops and Stegosaurus, or a Pteranodon and Parasaurolophus. The models use moving features and a wheelbase, adding hands-on play beyond simply arranging figures. It is designed for children aged 3 and over.

Usage tips

The 108 pieces are used to build one of three dinosaur pairs, so the appeal lies in taking models apart and rebuilding them in a different form. That suits a play session where a child can choose which dinosaurs to assemble, then move the finished models around on their wheelbases. The set includes instructions, and a digital version is available through the LEGO Builder app.

Moving necks, articulated tails, flapping wings and mouths that open and close give little builders parts to explore once a model is assembled. Building and rebuilding also creates opportunities to practise handling pieces, sorting colours and following a sequence. These are intended play benefits rather than a guarantee of a particular developmental outcome. The T. rex model stands over 22 cm tall, which may help it feel like a substantial build once completed.

Why it makes sense

Compared with a set of fixed dinosaur figures, this one puts more emphasis on construction and changing the models. The three alternative pairs add variety without requiring a separate set for each dinosaur combination, while the moving parts give children something to manipulate after building. Its DUPLO bricks are described as easy for little hands to pull apart, an important practical detail for a toy intended for preschool play.

It suits you if the child enjoys both dinosaurs and building, and would welcome a toy that can be assembled in different ways rather than kept as one finished model. The educational aims include creative thinking, imagination, motor skills, focus and logical thinking. Those aims make sense alongside the hands-on format, but the set is still primarily a building toy, the listed activities depend on a child engaging with the pieces and instructions.

Is it worth it?

This set is most compelling when the aim is repeatable, hands-on play: children can build and rebuild three different dinosaur pairs, with moving details to explore and wheels for rolling the models. You may want to skip it if the priority is a single ready-made dinosaur figure, as the central activity here is assembling and changing the builds. For a child aged 3 or over who likes both dinosaurs and construction, the choice between three configurations is a useful reason to consider it, the value will depend on whether rebuilding is part of the fun.
