Earth: One Amazing Day earth-one-amazing-day DVD, G-rated family documentary

Who it’s for

Make this DVD the feature of a family movie night or choose it for a documentary-focused evening. Earth: One Amazing Day follows the sun across a range of landscapes, from high mountains and remote islands to jungles and urban settings. Its G rating and Kids & Family classification make it a nature film suited to a general audience.

It also works well for viewers who enjoy wildlife stories told through specific animal encounters rather than a single location or species. The film brings together moments such as a young zebra facing a river crossing, a penguin making a daily journey to feed its family, sperm whales resting vertically and a sloth in search of a mate.

Benefits

The film’s one-day structure gives the journey a clear thread: the changing light leads from one environment to the next. That approach connects varied scenery and wildlife without making the viewing experience feel like a collection of unrelated animal facts. For a shared screening, the mix of habitats and character-led moments offers plenty to follow across the film’s hour and 30 minutes.

The storytelling pairs natural-world scenes with humour, intimacy and emotion. Rather than focusing only on spectacle, it gives attention to the animals’ routines and the challenges within them. This makes the documentary a natural fit for a family viewing session as well as for anyone interested in wildlife and landscapes. The DVD-Video format provides a physical copy for a home collection, and the release contains one disc.

Compared with a documentary centred on one species or region, this film offers a broader itinerary through different habitats over the course of a day. Choose it for that varied, cinematic journey, a single-subject programme is a better match when the goal is to explore one animal or place in depth.
