BBC Studios 883929837106 Sister Boniface Mysteries: Season Four DVD
Product description
Some viewers want a mystery with a distinctive setting, others are looking for a longer story to settle into over several sittings. Sister Boniface Mysteries: Season Four brings crime-solving to the Cotswold village of Great Slaughter in the mid-1960s, with the season presented on DVD-Video.
Sister Boniface is a wine-making, moped-riding nun who helps investigate the village’s crimes. Her unusual mix of daily life and detective work gives the mysteries a character all their own.
The cases unfold amid a killer scarecrow, a women’s general strike and a police team-building exercise. A wholesome weekend away with the sisters takes an unexpected turn when another murder interrupts the plans.
How to use it
Choose this season for a relaxed mystery viewing session at home. Its six-hour runtime gives you material to enjoy across a longer evening or to spread over several sittings, while the English subtitles offer a text option during playback. The DVD-Video, NTSC format makes the edition easy to identify when selecting a disc for a compatible DVD setup.
The setting and cases also make it a good fit for viewers who enjoy mysteries with a strong sense of place, rather than a crime story focused only on the investigation. Great Slaughter’s village life, the sisters’ weekend away and the police’s team-building plans provide the backdrop for the murder mystery.

What you’ll notice day to day
The appeal is in the contrast between Sister Boniface’s religious life and her role as the police’s secret weapon. Wine-making and moped rides sit alongside murder investigations, giving the character a memorable presence without taking the focus away from the cases. The mid-1960s Cotswold setting adds a quaint village atmosphere to the strange events unfolding there.
This season has several distinct story details to look forward to: a scarecrow stalking the streets, women calling a general strike and officers attempting team building. They give the village more than one source of disruption, while the weekend away with the sisters brings the next murder close to home. That blend of village happenings and crime-solving suits viewers who want the mystery to share space with character and setting.
For a practical viewing plan, the six-hour runtime suits a multi-session watch, while the English subtitles can help when following dialogue. If you’re choosing between a brief standalone film and a full season of television mysteries, this DVD offers the longer season format.
Buying verdict
Sister Boniface Mysteries: Season Four is a fitting pick for viewers who enjoy British village crime stories, an unconventional amateur sleuth and an atmospheric period setting. Its DVD-Video presentation, English subtitles and six-hour runtime make it straightforward to plan a substantial mystery watch, whether you’re catching up with Sister Boniface or setting aside time for a season of crime-solving in Great Slaughter.
