The essentials
This collection is a prequel to the IT story, with a mystery-and-horror focus that builds on Derry’s unsettling history. Rather than a single feature-length fright, the complete first season gives the story room to follow a group of friends and reveal more of the threat surrounding them. Looking for a horror story that develops over episodes? Its season format lets the mystery unfold across the full 8 hours and 35 minutes.
The premise centres on a multidimensional entity whose current, most horrific form is the murderous, shape-shifting clown Pennywise. Buyers appreciate the eerie atmosphere and the story’s contribution to the character’s backstory, making this a natural pick for viewers who want more context from the IT world. The Canadian Home Video Rating is ages 14 and over, a useful detail when choosing something to watch with others.
Everyday use
As a DVD-Video release in NTSC format, this set suits a DVD setup that supports NTSC playback. Its English-language presentation makes it straightforward to follow the series as released, while the complete-season format keeps the episodes together in one physical collection. You can watch in shorter sessions and return to the same story without switching between separate releases.
Practical tips
For a relaxed evening, choose an episode or two and let the season’s mystery build gradually, the full runtime also makes a longer viewing session possible. If you are deciding between a standalone horror film and an episodic story, this release is the more story-led choice: it follows a group of friends and explores the history behind Pennywise over the course of a complete season. Keep the NTSC format in mind when selecting a DVD playback setup, and note the ages-14-and-over rating when planning a shared watch.
