Ninja Scroll Blu-ray Anime Movie, Japanese Language, Widescreen

Key takeaways

For viewers looking for Japanese-language anime action on Blu-ray, Ninja Scroll follows wandering swordsman Jubei Kibagami as he is drawn into a dangerous plot against the Tokugawa Shogunate. After rescuing a female ninja from a demon, Jubei joins her and a wary spy to confront a demonic clan—and a former leader tied to his past. The widescreen presentation makes this a natural pick for an anime movie night, while the 1 hour and 34 minute runtime gives the story a focused feature-length format.

The appeal is its blend of swordplay, supernatural threats, and a revenge-driven story. If you want a compact action feature, this format fits, if your priority is a longer series with room for an extended storyline, that is a different kind of viewing experience.

Everyday use

The movie is presented on Blu-ray in widescreen, with Japanese listed as the language. That makes it a fit for viewers seeking an anime film in its Japanese-language presentation, as well as fans building a physical-media collection around notable action titles. Its 1 hour and 34 minute runtime also works well when you want a complete feature rather than a multi-episode commitment.

The story centers on Jubei’s effort to survive a deadly poison and stop a plan to overthrow the government. His uneasy alliance with the kunoichi and spy gives the adventure more than one point of tension: the group must face the demon clan while dealing with mistrust and the swordsman’s connection to the enemy. The film includes bloody violence and graphic scenes, so its content is best suited to viewers who are comfortable with intense animated action.

Some buyers praise the film as a lasting anime classic, especially its animation, story, and exaggerated action sequences. Others note that the graphic violence is not to every taste. A number of buyers also report playback problems with some Blu-ray players, so confirm that your player supports the disc format before settling in for movie night.

Who it’s for

Ninja Scroll is aimed at anime fans who enjoy supernatural action, sword fights, and stories built around revenge and betrayal. It may also appeal to viewers exploring influential-feeling anime adventures, or collectors who want a widescreen Blu-ray of a self-contained feature. The Japanese-language presentation is relevant for anyone specifically seeking anime in Japanese.

It suits you if the combination of a wandering swordsman, demonic enemies, and a high-stakes plot is the kind of action story you want to watch. The movie’s central conflict is easy to follow: Jubei must work with two uneasy allies to confront an enemy from his past and a threat to the Shogunate.

Buying verdict

Choose Ninja Scroll for a Japanese-language, widescreen anime feature that brings together swordplay, demons, and a revenge-centered plot in a 1 hour and 34 minute runtime. It is a strong match for viewers who want a complete action story on Blu-ray and are comfortable with graphic animated violence. For a collection centered on anime films rather than ongoing series, its focused feature format and distinctive supernatural premise make it an especially relevant addition.
