The widescreen Blu-ray format makes this a physical home-viewing option for fans who want to add the season to a disc collection. With two discs, the release packages the season as a dedicated set rather than a digital-only listing. The story’s contrast is central to its appeal: Cid treats his second life like an elaborate game, while the supposedly invented cult and its threat are real. Claire’s trip to the Lawless City brings that comic misunderstanding into a setting shaped by danger and intrigue.
Who it’s for
This season is suited to viewers who enjoy fantasy anime that mixes action, comedy, and an over-the-top secret-organization premise. It continues Cid’s story after his rebirth in a magical world, while shifting attention to the Lawless City and Claire’s search for the vampire queen. The result gives returning fans more of the series’ distinctive clash between Cid’s theatrical schemes and the serious events unfolding around him. It also works for collectors looking for the second season on Blu-ray in a widescreen, two-disc format.
Customer feedback highlights the humor and the combination of comedy with action, including the fight scenes. Some viewers compare the season favorably with the first, which may help fans decide whether its playful tone is the kind of anime they want to continue watching. If you’re choosing between a standard season disc set and a release with extra material, the listed animation and preview features add more series-related content to this edition.
Practical tips
The release includes clean opening and closing animations, episode previews, and alternative previews. It also includes 12 “Em-Shade!” shorts featuring the Seven Shadows, with topics ranging from designing clothes and hunting in the Lawless City to music and their devotion to their master. These extras make the set appealing to viewers who want additional short-form material alongside the main season. The listed language is Japanese, so consider that detail when selecting the release for your viewing setup.
Buying verdict
Choose this two-disc widescreen Blu-ray for a physical copy of Season 2 that brings together Cid’s comic power fantasy, fantasy-action storytelling, and bonus shorts. It’s a fitting pick for fans continuing the series and for anime collectors who value the main season plus opening, closing, and preview material in one release.
