HEAPETS MPHE276GNQ02-BROWN Smart Bird Feeder with 2K Camera and Solar Power

The plastic HEAPETS feeder measures 9.5"L x 7.5"W x 6"H and weighs 1.6 pounds. Its built-in camera streams 2K video to a phone app, adding remote viewing to a standard seed feeder. A solar panel is built into the cover, and corded power is also supported. The AI bird-identification feature includes a one-month free trial, with subscription options afterward.

At a glance

This feeder is designed for seed and combines an easy-refill top, adjustable perch, and 360-degree perch with a camera and motion alerts. You can mount it on a tree, pole, or wall, which gives some flexibility in choosing a viewing spot. The included components list the feeder body with camera, solar-panel cover, Type-C power cable, accessories, and installation tools.

The app is the main difference from a basic feeder: it can send an alert when birds arrive, show a live view, and provide recorded footage. Video needs Basic Service activated in the app. AI recognition is described as covering 10,000+ bird species, but the included trial lasts one month, continued AI access may involve a monthly or yearly subscription. It’s a great fit if you want to pair feeding with app-based viewing and species identification. Not the best choice if you expect ongoing AI identification to remain free after the trial.

Getting the most from it

For a yard or outdoor space where you want to observe visits without staying beside the feeder, the phone alerts and live stream offer more than a conventional feeder can. The solar panel can help power the camera, while corded power is another available option. However, buyers report mixed results with solar charging: some say it keeps the unit charged, while others say it does not fully charge even in full sun. That makes the corded option relevant if solar performance is not sufficient for your setup.

The manufacturer describes the design as weatherproof and suitable for rain, snow, and heat. Buyer feedback on durability is less uniform: some describe it as sturdy, while others report plastic parts breaking. Connectivity feedback is also mixed, with some buyers mentioning Wi-Fi issues. These reports are worth weighing if a dependable connection or long-term outdoor use is central to your decision.

How to use it

Choose a tree, pole, or wall mounting position that gives birds access to the perch and leaves the camera useful for viewing. Add seed through the easy-refill top, then use the app for alerts and live viewing, video service activation is required for video. The included solar-panel cover supports solar power, and the product also allows corded power. The listing mentions attachments for seasonal food, including suet balls or fresh fruit, as well as a small hummingbird feeder, though seed is the recommended use.

Buyers commonly praise the camera’s picture and video quality, straightforward setup, and entertainment value. Some also appreciate the bird-identification feature. Their experiences with battery performance, durability, connectivity, and value are mixed, so those points should not be treated as guaranteed outcomes.

Is it worth it?

The MPHE276GNQ02-BROWN makes most sense when the camera and app features matter as much as feeding birds. Compared with a basic feeder, it adds remote viewing, motion alerts, and optional AI identification, a simpler feeder may suit someone who only needs a place to put seed. The tradeoff is that camera features depend on app services and a usable connection, while buyers’ reports about solar charging and durability vary. Choose it for the connected birdwatching setup, especially if you are comfortable managing its power and app features.
