Kiwibit BW512 Solar Smart Bird Feeder Camera, 4K HDR, AI Bird ID

A built-in solar roof helps support the rechargeable battery, while the camera brings feeder visits into view in 4K HDR. Kiwibit’s BW512 pairs 8MP photos with AI bird identification and two-way audio. Choose it for a connected backyard birdwatching setup, a basic feeder is a simpler fit when you only need a place to offer seed.

Usage tips

Mount the feeder on a pole, wall, or tree using the included mounting hardware, then fill the detachable hopper with seed. Its dual-seed design lets you offer two blends at the same time, while the removable container and tray make refilling and rinsing straightforward. Position the built-in solar roof where it can receive sunlight, and connect the camera to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for live viewing and motion alerts. The rechargeable battery can also be charged through USB-C.

The 132° wide-angle lens captures the area around the feeder, and infrared night vision records black-and-white footage after dark. Two-way audio lets you listen and speak through the built-in speaker. The camera is designed to focus on the feeder rather than monitor the surrounding area, and footage can be stored on a Micro SD card or in the cloud.

Pros

The 4K Ultra HD video, HDR enhancement, and 8MP photos give you several ways to revisit bird visits, while AI recognition can identify more than 10,000 wild bird species and send real-time alerts. The app also offers bird facts, visit summaries, and KeyShot galleries, sharing is available with up to 20 family members or friends. AI features require Kiwibit Premium, with a 30-day free trial.

The IP65 weatherproof design supports outdoor placement, and the feeder works with iOS and Android devices. Buyers highlight the clear video, straightforward setup, and enjoyment of seeing birds up close, feedback on solar charging varies, with some reporting reliable solar charging and others saying they recharge the battery frequently.

What matters most

This model combines the feeder and camera in one unit, so it suits birdwatchers who want to receive visit alerts and view footage on a phone as well as provide seed. The 4K camera, night vision, and AI identification add a digital layer to backyard observation, while the solar roof and rechargeable battery offer two charging methods. If your priority is simply to attract birds without capturing or identifying them, a conventional feeder serves that more basic purpose. For a more interactive setup, the BW512 brings viewing, identification, and two-way audio together.
