KAYHEN Dried Mealworms for Chickens, 5 lb Non-GMO High-Protein Treat

For a backyard flock gathering around a feed pan, KAYHEN dried mealworms offer an easy way to add an insect-based treat: sprinkle them over regular feed or offer them separately to encourage foraging. The mealworms are described as high in protein, natural, and non-GMO, making them a practical supplement for chickens and laying hens.

The 5-pound bag has a resealable zip-top closure for convenient storage between feedings. It can also serve wild birds, so one treat format works for more than one kind of backyard visitor.

Quick overview

These dried mealworms are intended as a protein-rich addition to a chicken’s diet, not as a replacement for its regular feed. The product is positioned for supporting chicken health, feather quality, growth, and egg production in laying hens. Those are intended uses, not guaranteed results, and the simple mealworm format makes it straightforward to offer as a treat or mix into feed.

The mealworms are described as natural and non-GMO, with a raised diet of bran, flours, and leftover fruits and vegetables. Their dried form is convenient for keeping on hand, while the resealable bag helps close the package after use. The product is also suitable for feeding wild birds.

Usage tips

For a simple serving, sprinkle mealworms directly into the chickens’ feed. To make feeding more interactive, offer them as a treat that encourages natural foraging behavior. This flexibility is useful for keepers who want to supplement a regular feeding routine without changing how the main feed is served.

Keep the resealable top closed between uses and store the bag with your other animal-feed supplies. The 5-pound package provides a ready supply for recurring treats, whether you’re feeding laying hens, other chickens, or wild birds.

Everyday use

Mealworms give backyard keepers an insect-based option alongside standard chicken feed. Use a small treat serving during a feeding routine, or scatter some where chickens can forage. For wild birds, the same dried format can be offered as a supplemental food, buyers mention that chickens and bluebirds enjoy it, including for winter feeding. Customer comments also describe the mealworms as appealing to their birds, though individual preferences can vary.

The practical difference from relying on feed alone is the option to add a distinct treat and foraging activity. The resealable package makes it easy to return to that routine over time, while the dried mealworms are ready to sprinkle into feed or serve on their own.
