Earthquake 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray (Bilingual) with HDR10

HDR10 brings brighter, deeper colour to Earthquake’s 4K Ultra HD presentation, giving this disaster film a vivid format for a home movie night.

The story follows strangers in Southern California as a catastrophic earthquake shakes Los Angeles and upends their lives. Charlton Heston leads an ensemble cast that includes Ava Gardner, George Kennedy, Lorne Greene and Geneviève Bujold.

This bilingual release includes 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray formats, so you can choose the version that suits your home viewing setup.

At a glance

Earthquake combines action, drama and suspense in a story about ordinary people facing a citywide disaster. As aftershocks threaten Los Angeles, residents must come together and find a way forward. The film runs for 2 hours and 2 minutes and carries a Canadian home video rating of PG.

The ensemble cast is a key part of the film’s appeal, with Charlton Heston at the centre of a story populated by a broad mix of characters. Its large-scale disaster premise makes it a natural pick for a focused movie night, while its era and cast may also appeal to viewers revisiting classic Hollywood films. Looking for a physical release that offers both a 4K Ultra HD and a Blu-ray format? This set gives you both formats in one title.

Buyers often praise the cast, the film’s nostalgic appeal and its effects, with some finding the effects enjoyable in the context of the film’s era. Comments on disc playback are mixed, so use the format that matches your player. These are viewer impressions rather than a guarantee of playback in every setup.

How to use it

Choose the 4K Ultra HD or Blu-ray disc according to the player you’ll use, each format requires a compatible player. The 4K Ultra HD presentation features HDR10, which is designed to offer brighter, deeper and more lifelike colour. For a relaxed evening at home, settle in for the full feature, its 2-hour-and-2-minute runtime gives the ensemble story room to unfold.

This is a straightforward choice for viewers who want a physical copy of the film in two home-video formats rather than a single-format release. Keep the discs with the format labels visible so it’s easy to select the right one when you’re ready to watch.

Who it’s for

Earthquake suits viewers drawn to disaster stories, classic action and suspense, or ensemble films led by familiar screen performers. It can also fit a film collection built around notable titles from an earlier era, or make a change of pace for a movie night centred on a large-scale story of people responding to a crisis.

It’s a good fit if you want both 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray formats in one release, or if HDR10 is a feature you value for 4K viewing. The PG rating can help households make an informed choice about whether the film is suitable for their viewing plans.

Is it worth it?

The clearest reason to choose this release is the combination of the film’s disaster-driven story, its ensemble cast and the choice of 4K Ultra HD or Blu-ray format. HDR10 adds a specific benefit to the 4K presentation, while the Blu-ray format provides another viewing option for a compatible player. For collectors of classic films and viewers who enjoy action and suspense with a broad cast, Earthquake brings a substantial feature-length story to the home collection.
