Call the Midwife: Season Nine DE759688D DVD, 3-Disc Drama

Presented on DVD-Video, this three-disc set brings together the ninth season of Call the Midwife. The drama is set in 1965, as Poplar faces change and redevelopment. With 8 hours of runtime, it offers a full season for an at-home viewing session or for returning to the story over several evenings.

Practical tips

The DVD format makes this a physical season collection for viewers who want to follow the story beyond a single episode or streaming session. Its three discs hold 8 hours of drama, giving you room to settle in for a longer watch or split the season into shorter viewing sessions. The English-language presentation and PG rating are useful details when choosing a programme to watch at home.

Season Nine begins with the death of Sir Winston Churchill, a moment that marks the end of an era. Poplar is moving beyond the shadows of the Second World War, while an ambitious redevelopment programme puts Nonnatus House under threat. That setting gives the season a clear historical backdrop and places the community’s future at the heart of its story.

Why it makes sense

This release is centred on a complete season rather than a collection of unrelated episodes, making it a straightforward choice for viewers already following Call the Midwife or those adding this chapter to a physical TV collection. The period-drama setting brings together public change and life in Poplar, with the redevelopment proposal creating a continuing source of tension around Nonnatus House.

Viewers responding to the series often highlight its relatable historical stories, emotional warmth and the performances of both the main and supporting cast. Those qualities suit a watch built around character and community as much as the events of the period. Some buyers also report playback problems, so checking the discs in the intended DVD player is a practical step when settling in to watch.

A solid pick if you want Season Nine in a physical format and enjoy historical drama shaped by a close-knit community, personal stories and a changing era. Buyers looking for a single film or a standalone story may prefer a different kind of release, this set is focused on continuing the series season by season.
