Blake brings his wife, Charlotte, and daughter, Ginger, to his childhood home for a fresh start. After a brutal animal attack, they shelter inside as an unseen creature circles outside and Blake’s injuries begin to change him.

The story offers a contemporary take on the classic werewolf premise. Choose this disc-based edition for Blu-ray viewing and its extras, the included digital copy adds another way to watch, subject to its expiration terms.

Technical details

The film runs 1 hour and 43 minutes and is rated R. The edition is presented on Blu-ray with English and French subtitles. English audio is listed in Dolby Atmos, while Spanish audio is listed in Dolby Digital Plus 7.1, giving viewers language and audio-format options for a movie night.

Its setup moves between the threat outside the house and the danger developing within the family, giving the story a contained, suspense-focused setting. That makes it a fit for viewers drawn to horror built around isolation and escalating tension, rather than a traditional monster story alone.

Customer reactions to the film’s distinctive approach and storyline are generally positive, while responses to its atmosphere and pacing vary. Some viewers describe it as scary, others find it less frightening, and opinions on the pace differ. Those differing reactions make the film’s modern, character-centered take a useful point of reference for anyone choosing between a familiar werewolf formula and a different interpretation.

Getting the most from it

For a movie night, the family’s barricaded home provides a natural setting for watching the suspense unfold from the safety of the house. The listed English Dolby Atmos and Spanish Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 audio options let viewers select a preferred language and format, while English and French subtitles support additional viewing preferences.

The extras add material for a second look after the feature. “Unleashing a New Monster,” “Designing Wolf Man,” “Hands-on Horror,” and “Nightmares and Soundscapes” explore the production and its horror elements. Feature commentary with co-writer and director Leigh Whannell offers another way to revisit the film, with context from one of its creators.
