Kubo and the Two Strings 826663234930 Limited Edition SteelBook 4K UHD + Blu-ray
Product description
Some movie editions are chosen for a straightforward rewatch, others add a collectible presentation and extras for a deeper look at how the film was made. This limited edition SteelBook of Kubo and the Two Strings brings the animated adventure together on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray, with bonus material that extends the experience beyond the feature.
Kubo’s story follows a young storyteller whose magical origami tales lead him on a quest tied to his samurai father, a mystical weapon, and his own powers. The feature runs 1 hour and 42 minutes and is presented in English, with English DTS-HD 5.1 and Dolby Atmos audio listed for the release.
Getting the most from it
The 4K Ultra HD presentation suits a movie night centered on the film’s detailed visual world, while the included Blu-ray offers another format for watching the same feature. Its stop-motion animation gives the story a distinctive visual character, and the origami-inspired imagery connects naturally with Kubo’s gift for bringing stories to life. What makes this edition especially engaging for a film fan? It pairs the adventure with a substantial set of behind-the-scenes extras.
The bonus content includes a 4K restoration, feature-length storyboards, character and concept art, and behind-the-scenes photo galleries. Viewers can also explore LAIKA’s animation work through featurettes about the challenges of making the film and revisiting its puppets, along with Kubo’s Journey, original featurettes, an audio commentary with director and producer Travis Knight, and an audio descriptive track. These additions make the set appealing for a second viewing focused on the craft behind the finished story.
Where it shines
Kubo’s quest brings action, family ties, magic, and storytelling into one animated adventure. Monkey acts as a protective guide, while Beetle joins the journey as an archer who believes he may once have been a noble warrior. Their roles give the central quest a strong sense of companionship as Kubo faces the creatures in his path and seeks to uncover the mystery of his father and his own abilities.
The film can work well for a shared movie night when viewers want an animated story with visual imagination and emotional stakes. Buyers often highlight the stop-motion animation, the 4K visuals, and the touching story. Reactions to the intensity are more varied: some viewers find the emotion compelling, while others say certain scenes may feel scary for younger children. That perspective can help families decide whether to watch together or save it for an audience comfortable with a more intense adventure.
