HIM Collector's Edition DVD: Horror Thriller with Bonus Features
Product description
When you want a story centered on football, the appeal may be the rise of an athlete, when you want that setting turned into psychological suspense, HIM takes a darker route. This Collector’s Edition brings the film to DVD with bonus content for a closer look at its story and production.
After an attack by an unhinged fan, quarterback Cameron Cade is offered a chance to train with his idol, Isaiah White. The mentorship grows unsettling as Isaiah’s charisma takes a sinister turn, pulling Cameron into a dangerous pursuit of excellence.
The film runs 1 hour and 36 minutes and includes English and Spanish audio in Dolby Digital 5.1. Its R rating and mix of horror, mystery, and suspense make it a dark, tense movie-night choice.
Key points
This DVD edition pairs the feature with extras that extend the viewing beyond the main story. The alternate ending, “Zay’s Nightmare,” offers another take on the film’s conclusion, while deleted scenes and a deleted end-credits scene add material connected to the characters and story. Featurettes including “The Sport of Filmmaking” and “Becoming Them” explore different aspects of the production, and two “Anatomy of a Scene” segments focus on specific sequences. A feature commentary with director and co-writer Justin Tipping provides another way to engage with the film.
The story’s football setting gives its suspense a distinct backdrop: Cameron’s athletic ambition and relationship with his idol are central to the escalating unease. The film is presented as horror, mystery, and suspense, so it may appeal to viewers who enjoy genre stories that build tension through character dynamics as well as unsettling scenes. Customer opinions on the genre are mixed, some appreciate its suspense-thriller elements, while others expected a more conventional horror experience.
Tips for day-to-day use
Choose this DVD for a focused movie night, then explore the bonus material when you want to revisit the story from a different angle. The alternate ending is a natural extra to watch after the feature, while the deleted scenes and scene-focused segments offer more context around the film. English and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 audio options let viewers select either available track for the session.
