AFMAT PS91 Electric Pencil Sharpener for 6–12 mm Pencils, Auto Stop

With an ABS housing and stainless-steel blade, the AFMAT PS91 is a plug-in electric sharpener for pencils from 6 to 12 mm. Its vertical design keeps the sharpening station compact, while automatic shutoff helps prevent sharpening past the selected point.

Choose between a sharp or blunt point to suit the task, from detailed drawing to everyday writing.

Everyday use

For a classroom, home desk, or office, the PS91 handles No. 2 and colored pencils, along with standard and larger pencils within its supported diameter. The manufacturer also identifies triangular, round, oval, and hexagonal pencil shapes as compatible. That range makes it useful when one sharpener needs to serve different pencil types and users.

Instead of manually turning a handheld sharpener, plug in the PS91, insert the pencil, and press it down firmly until the motor stops. The auto-stop feature ends the sharpening cycle when the point is ready, helping reduce unnecessary sharpening. A removable, large-capacity shavings box makes cleanup straightforward, empty it when it reaches about one-third full to keep the workspace tidy. It is designed for graphite and colored pencils, but soft-core pencils are not recommended.

Buyers often praise how easy it is to use, its quick sharpening, and the automatic stop. Some also value being able to choose between point settings, which suits different classroom, drawing, and writing needs.

Why it’s worth it

A manual sharpener can make sense when portability and occasional use matter most. The PS91 is built for a different routine: a fixed spot where several pencils need sharpening and users benefit from an electric mechanism. Its two point settings let you choose a sharper tip for detailed work or a blunter point for everyday use, while automatic shutoff helps control how far each pencil is sharpened.

The stainless-steel helical blade is described as supporting up to 8,000 sharpening cycles and can be replaced. That serviceable design is useful for regular use in settings such as art rooms, classrooms, and shared work areas. Because it runs from the supplied AC adapter, it is ready to use at a desk with access to a power outlet.
