Silkland S1407 USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 Cable, 8K/60Hz, 3.3 ft

For a USB-C or Thunderbolt laptop that needs a direct connection to a DisplayPort monitor, the Silkland S1407 provides a simple cable-based setup. It supports USB-C video output through DisplayPort Alt Mode, as well as Thunderbolt 3 and 4. The 3.3 ft braided cable is designed for an indoor desk or home office.

How it fits

This cable connects a USB-C source to a DisplayPort display in one direction: USB-C to DisplayPort. That makes it a practical match for a compatible laptop, tablet or other device when you want to extend or mirror its screen on a monitor. The source’s USB-C port must support video output through DisplayPort Alt Mode, or the device must use Thunderbolt 3 or 4. A USB-C port used only for charging or data transfer will not provide a video signal through this cable.

It suits a setup where the computer has USB-C or Thunderbolt and the monitor has DisplayPort. If your equipment is organized around HDMI instead, that requires a different connection path, this cable is specifically for DisplayPort. No driver installation is needed, so once the source and display are connected, you can set up the screen through your device’s display settings.

Why it makes sense

DisplayPort 1.4 bandwidth of up to 32.4 Gbps supports high-resolution display use, including up to 8K at 60Hz. To reach 8K at 60Hz, the source and display must support that resolution, and the DisplayPort monitor must support DisplayPort 1.4 and DSC. The cable also supports HDCP 2.2/1.4, HDR, G-Sync, DSC and FEC, features relevant to protected video playback and compatible display or gaming setups.

The nylon-braided jacket and aluminium-alloy shell give the cable a considered fit for regular desk use, while its grey finish keeps the connection understated. Buyers describe straightforward plug-and-play monitor connections and positive experiences with MacBook and Mac mini setups. Those comments reflect individual setups, so actual display modes depend on the connected computer and monitor.

When it makes sense

Choose the Silkland S1407 when your aim is to connect a video-capable USB-C or Thunderbolt device directly to a DisplayPort monitor for work, video or gaming. For example, it can link a compatible laptop to a desk display for an expanded workspace, or connect a computer to a larger screen for viewing content. Its direct connection, 32.4 Gbps bandwidth and support for high-resolution output make it a useful fit for setups built around USB-C or Thunderbolt on the source side and DisplayPort on the monitor side.
