Connect a USB-C laptop to a monitor for work, presentations or a larger viewing area with the Silkland USB-C display cable. Its 10 ft length gives you room to position connected devices comfortably.

It also handles data transfer and USB-C power delivery, making it useful for more than video. What can one cable bring to a desk setup? Display output, data transfer up to 20 Gbps and charging up to 240W are all supported.

The cable has a nylon-braided exterior and USB-C male connectors at both ends. For video, the connected device’s USB-C port must support DP Alt Mode.

Strengths

This cable brings display, data and charging capabilities together in a single USB-C connection. For video output, supported modes include 8K at 30 Hz, 5K at 60 Hz, 4K at up to 144 Hz and 1080p at up to 240 Hz. It can also connect compatible portable monitors, with support for 4K at 60 Hz or 30 Hz and Full HD 1080p.

For file transfers and USB-C accessories, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 supports data rates up to 20 Gbps. Connect a compatible hub, docking station or SSD, or use the cable to move large files between devices. The 240W power delivery rating supports charging with compatible USB-C devices and chargers, the connected equipment determines the power it can use.

Buyers commonly praise its compatibility with Dell ultrawide and portable monitors, along with its charging and transfer performance. Feedback on flexibility and durability is mixed, so those impressions vary between users.

Highlights

The 10 ft cable gives you more reach between a USB-C computer and a monitor, dock or other nearby device. Its round, gray design has a nylon braid and an aluminium shell. USB-C connectors at both ends make it suitable for direct connections between compatible USB-C devices.

The display specifications make it a practical choice for a high-resolution external screen, while the data rate supports fast transfers and connected peripherals. Rather than choosing a cable for video alone or a separate one for charging and data, this model brings those functions into a versatile USB-C connection. Its stated two-year warranty adds a defined coverage period.

Best use cases

Use it to connect a compatible laptop to a USB-C desktop or portable monitor, or to link a computer with a USB-C dock, hub or SSD. It is also suited to charging supported devices from a compatible USB-C power source. For example, a home or office desk can use the cable to link a laptop and monitor, then connect storage or a dock when the setup calls for it.

The key video requirement is DP Alt Mode on the source device’s USB-C port. Before choosing a display mode, match the supported capabilities of the connected computer and monitor. For charging, the cable’s 240W rating is its maximum, the device and power source determine the actual charging level.

Questions before you buy
