Atari 2600+ Pac-Man Edition Console with HDMI and Wireless CX40+ Joystick

A dedicated retro setup suits players who want classic Atari gameplay, while a modern screen connection makes everyday setup more straightforward. The Atari 2600+ Pac-Man Edition brings these together with HDMI output and USB power. It also includes two Pac-Man games on one cartridge and a wireless CX40+ joystick.

Tips for day-to-day use

Connect the console to a screen using the included 1.5m HDMI cable, then use the included 1.5m USB power cable to power it. The wireless CX40+ joystick keeps play untethered from the console, making it easy to settle in for a Pac-Man session without handling a wired controller. Multiple screen modes give you options for viewing, while HDMI output connects the system to a modern display.

The included Pac-Man Double Feature cartridge puts two Pac-Man games in one place, so you can start with the edition’s featured games. If you already have original Atari 2600 or 7800 cartridges, the slot is backwards compatible with hundreds of those games. That makes the console relevant both for revisiting a familiar collection and for enjoying the Pac-Man edition as a ready-made retro gaming setup.

Pros

The appeal is in combining a recognisable Atari console experience with practical modern connections. HDMI output helps connect the system to contemporary screens, and USB power avoids relying on the original machine’s connection style. The wireless joystick also gives you room to play without a controller cable running back to the console.

For someone choosing between a console built around one included game and a retro system with broader cartridge support, the 2600+ offers both: Pac-Man comes ready to play on the Double Feature cartridge, and the system supports original Atari 2600 and 7800 games. Multiple screen modes add another useful choice for setting up a session around the display being used.

Highlights

This edition is a licensed collaboration between Bandai Namco and Atari, centred on Pac-Man. Its package includes the Atari 2600+ video game system, a CX40+ wireless joystick, the Pac-Man Double Feature cartridge, a 1.5m HDMI cable and a 1.5m USB power cable. The combination gives you the console, controller, featured games and connection cables for getting a session underway.

A practical use is keeping the system connected to an HDMI display for quick access to Pac-Man, then swapping in compatible original Atari 2600 or 7800 cartridges when you want to play from a collection. The console’s support for multiple screen modes and its backwards-compatible cartridge slot make it suited to players who value classic Atari games as much as the convenience of modern connections.

Buying verdict

The Atari 2600+ Pac-Man Edition is a strong fit for Pac-Man fans and Atari players who want a dedicated retro console with HDMI output, USB power and a wireless joystick. The included Double Feature cartridge makes the Pac-Man focus clear, while compatibility with hundreds of original Atari 2600 and 7800 games gives the system wider appeal for building play around a classic cartridge collection.
