SSK SD301 128GB USB-C Flash Drive, USB-C and USB-A, Up to 550 MB/s

Pros

The SSK SD301 pairs USB-C and USB-A connectors in one 128GB drive, making it easy to move files between compatible phones, tablets, and computers without relying on a single port type.

Read speeds reach up to 550 MB/s and write speeds up to 500 MB/s when connected through USB 3.2 Gen 2. That makes the drive a handy place to carry high-resolution photos, videos, and other large files for work or study.

Its zinc alloy housing and dual-end protective cover give the portable drive a practical design for everyday carry. Buyers often praise its speed, solid construction, and usefulness for transferring files between phones and PCs, some also mention heat during transfers and mixed experiences with durability.

Key points

With USB-C and USB-A connectors built into the same drive, the SD301 offers a simpler alternative to carrying separate storage for different devices. Connect it to an OTG-enabled USB-C Android phone or tablet to move photos and videos, then use the USB-A connector to access those files on a compatible computer. It also works with USB-C iPhone 15, 16, and 17 models, Lightning-port iPhones are not compatible.

The advertised top read speed requires a USB 3.2 Gen 2 or faster port. With USB 3.0 or USB 3.1 Gen 1, the stated maximum is up to 450 MB/s. Actual transfer speed can vary with the host device, interface, and use conditions. The drive is backward-compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, and its default exFAT format supports Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android systems.

For a straightforward transfer, connect the USB-C end to a compatible phone, copy selected media to the drive, and plug the USB-A end into a computer to continue organizing or sharing the files. Plug-and-play operation means no software installation is needed. On compatible iPhone and iPad devices, files can be accessed through the Files app, supported file types depend on the device and its software.

Best use cases

The SD301 is useful for keeping a portable copy of phone photos and videos, carrying project files between a mobile device and a computer, or adding external storage for compatible USB-C and USB-A equipment. Its two connectors are especially convenient when a transfer involves devices with different ports. Choose a single-connector drive if all your devices use the same connection, the SD301 is designed for a mix of USB-C and USB-A devices.

Is it worth it?

It’s a great fit if you want 128GB of portable storage that can move between USB-C and USB-A devices, with fast stated transfer speeds on a USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection. The zinc alloy body, protective cover, and support for common operating systems make it a practical option for carrying files between compatible phones, tablets, and computers.
