fanxiang S880 1TB NVMe SSD, PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280, Up to 7,300 MB/s

Storage upgrades can focus on adding room, supporting fast transfers, or fitting an internal drive in a gaming setup. The fanxiang S880 brings 1TB of storage in an M.2 2280 NVMe format. Its PCIe 4.0 interface and read speeds up to 7,300 MB/s make it suited to gaming, large files, and demanding computing tasks. It is also listed as compatible with PS5.

Pros

The 1TB capacity gives games, applications, and personal or professional files a dedicated place on an internal SSD. For gaming, faster storage can help with tasks such as launching applications and loading large files. The S880 uses 3D NAND TLC and Dynamic SLC Cache, pairing its storage format with a cache feature designed to support data handling.

Buyers commonly praise the drive’s performance, installation, and PS5 compatibility. Feedback on thermal behavior is mixed, so impressions differ. Those comments offer useful context, while the listed PCIe interface and M.2 size remain the practical details to match with a system.

Highlights

This drive combines the compact M.2 2280 form factor with a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface. The advertised sequential read speed is up to 7,300 MB/s when connected through PCIe Gen 4 x4. That makes interface choice a key part of the buying decision: a system with a compatible Gen 4 x4 connection can make use of the stated speed, while a Gen 3 x4 connection limits speeds to about 3,500 MB/s.

The S880’s 1TB capacity and internal design suit users looking to expand a desktop, laptop, or PS5 storage setup with an NVMe SSD. Compared with choosing a drive by capacity alone, checking the M.2 2280 form factor and PCIe generation helps ensure the drive fits the intended system and interface. Its advertised PS5 compatibility also makes it a relevant option for console storage expansion.

Practical tips

For first use in a Windows computer, the manufacturer recommends formatting and partitioning the SSD through Disk Management before accessing it in File Explorer. The interface affects transfer speed, so connect the drive to a PCIe Gen 4 x4 slot to reach its stated maximum read speed. When using a Gen 3 x4 connection or an SSD enclosure, the connection can limit the speed.

The S880 is listed as compatible with PS5 as well as desktop and laptop use. Before installation, match the drive’s M.2 2280 NVMe format and PCIe connection to the intended system. This keeps the selection focused on the actual fit and connection needed for the upgrade.

Final verdict

The fanxiang S880 is a focused choice for adding 1TB of internal NVMe storage to a compatible gaming or computing setup. Its combination of M.2 2280 sizing, PCIe 4.0 x4, 3D NAND TLC, and read speeds up to 7,300 MB/s gives buyers clear specifications to compare against their system. For PS5 storage expansion or a computer upgrade, it brings capacity and a fast interface together in one compact drive.
