NEEWER RL-18 18-Inch LED Ring Light Kit, 55W 5600K with Stand

Tattoo artists, lash technicians, barbers, and makeup artists who need adjustable light for close-up work can use the NEEWER RL-18 as a freestanding studio setup.

Its 18-inch ring uses 240 LED bulbs and offers dimming from 0–100%, so you can adjust the output for different recording or work setups. The kit also includes filters and a soft tube for repositioning the light.

The stand, phone holder, and carrying bag make this a more complete setup than a small clip-on phone light. Buyer feedback praises the brightness and adjustability, while some buyers report durability problems with the phone holder and stand components.

Tech summary

• Type: Dimmable LED ring light kit
• Size: 18-inch ring, 61-inch light stand
• Power: 55W
• Color: 5600K light, with white and orange filters included
• What’s included: Ring light, stand, soft tube, filter set, ball-head hot shoe adapter, universal power adapter with plug, smartphone holder, and carrying bag

The ring’s dimming range gives you control over brightness without changing the setup. For a makeup tutorial, lash service, or video recording session, the phone holder can position a smartphone in the ring while the stand places the light around the subject. The soft tube lets you rotate the light to adjust its direction.

Getting the most from it

This kit is intended for studio-style lighting, including photography, video, live streaming, and close-up beauty or tattoo work. The included white and orange filters offer options for changing the light’s appearance. The stand is aluminum alloy, and the manufacturer notes that its stability depends on keeping the center leg joint 4–8 inches from the ground, raising the legs too high may cause the stand to fall and damage the ring light.

Compared with a compact clip-on light, the RL-18 provides a larger ring on a separate stand, with more pieces to set up and carry. Its bag supports transport, but this is still a stand-based kit rather than a light that attaches directly to a phone. It makes sense if you want a ring light and phone holder in one studio-oriented package. It’s not for you if your setup calls for only a small clip-on light.

Buyers often praise the brightness, ease of assembly, and ability to adjust the light’s direction. Feedback on reliability is mixed, however, and some report that the phone holder or plastic stand parts broke or that the light stopped working. These are reported experiences, not a guarantee of how an individual kit will perform.

What’s included

The package lists the ring light, light stand, soft tube, white and orange filter set, ball-head hot shoe adapter, universal power adapter with plug, smartphone holder, and carrying bag. A phone or camera is not included. The stand may be packed separately inside the larger package, beneath the ring-light box. The instructions also note that its legs need to be unfolded upside down.

What to clarify

Can the brightness be adjusted? Yes. The ring light is dimmable from 0–100%.

Can it hold a camera as well as a phone? The kit includes a smartphone holder and a hot shoe ball-head adapter for most DSLR cameras. The camera and phone are not included.

What color filters are included? The set contains white and orange filters.

Final verdict

The RL-18 is a practical fit for a fixed or portable studio workflow that benefits from a larger ring, adjustable brightness, and included phone-mounting accessories. Its stand and bag add flexibility beyond a basic phone light, while buyer reports of breakage make durability a reasonable consideration. Choose it for the ring-and-stand setup, skip it if a minimal clip-on format better suits your space.
