IRIS USA 553321 Top-Entry Cat Litter Box, Navy/White, Grooved Lid

Some litter areas call for straightforward access, others benefit from a design that helps keep litter contained and offers a cat more privacy. The IRIS USA 553321 uses a top-entry layout with high sides to help limit scatter. Its grooved lid catches loose litter as cats step out. The navy-and-white covered box also has a removable lid for scooping and cleaning.

Key features

The top opening creates a protected interior while helping keep curious dogs and other pets away from the litter. High walls surround the pan, and the grooves molded into the lid help catch particles from a cat’s paws on the way out. That combination is useful in a shared home where keeping the floor around the litter area neater is part of the daily routine.

For upkeep, the lid lifts off to give access to the pan, and the smooth interior surfaces are designed for easy cleaning. The included scoop can be stored on a molded hook on the box, keeping it close at hand when it is time to scoop. The plastic construction and rounded shape make this a practical, contained setup for everyday use.

Fit and sizing

The box measures 20.75 inches long by 16.12 inches wide by 14.62 inches high, with a 9-inch-wide by 10.5-inch-high entry opening. These measurements help you plan where it will sit and assess the access point for your cat. Its spacious layout is intended for cats of various sizes. Place it where your cat can approach the opening comfortably and where the removable lid can be lifted for maintenance.

Who it’s for

This design suits cat owners looking to reduce litter tracking and give a cat a more private place to use the litter box. It is especially relevant in homes where dogs or curious pets may investigate an open litter area. Compared with a setup focused mainly on open access, the top-entry arrangement prioritizes a protected interior and litter containment. Buyers also describe the box as easy on the eyes and appreciate that it looks different from a typical litter box. Feedback on the lid is mixed: some find it easy to remove, while others say it does not stay in place as expected.

Before you decide

How does the grooved lid help with litter scatter? The grooves catch loose particles as a cat exits, helping keep more litter around the box rather than across the floor.

How do you access the litter for cleaning? Lift off the removable lid to reach the pan for scooping or changing litter. Smooth interior surfaces support routine cleaning, and the included scoop has a molded storage hook on the box.

Will it fit in my chosen spot? The exterior footprint is 20.75 by 16.12 inches, and the box stands 14.62 inches high. Use those dimensions, along with the entry opening measurements, to plan placement and access.

Final verdict

Choose the IRIS USA 553321 when a top-entry, covered litter box fits your cat’s routine and your goal is a tidier litter area. High sides, a grooved lid, removable access, and a dedicated scoop hook bring containment and everyday upkeep together in one navy-and-white design.
