HP monochrome laser all-in-one printer 3101fdw

How to use it

Automatic two-sided printing and an automatic document feeder are the standout conveniences here: they can cut down on manual page flipping and make multi-page scanning or copying less hands-on.

The HP LaserJet Pro 3101fdw prints, copies, scans, and faxes in black and white. It’s designed for small teams, with the listing describing it as suitable for up to 7 people.

Picture a stack of reports that needs copying, followed by a double-sided print job. The feeder and duplex printing give this printer a more office-focused setup than a basic print-only laser model.

Pros

The listed print speed is up to 35 black-and-white pages per minute for single-sided printing. That may help when several people need routine documents, though the stated speed is not for double-sided output. What matters more for your day-to-day work: raw print speed, or fewer steps when handling a stack of pages? This model offers both speed and workflow features, with that distinction in mind.

Wireless printing is available from mobile devices, PCs, and tablets. Ethernet and Bluetooth are also included, while the printer’s intelligent Wi-Fi is described as looking for the best connection to stay online and ready to print. Support is listed for Microsoft, Mac, AirPrint, Android, and Chromebook, which gives a mixed-device team several ways to send jobs.

HP Wolf Pro Security includes customizable settings intended to help protect the printer and information. That may be useful in a shared work setting, although the listing doesn’t detail the specific controls or how they’re configured.

Buying verdict

You’ll appreciate it if your regular workload is reports, forms, and other black-and-white documents, especially when several people share printing and scanning. The automatic feeder and duplex function are more useful than a bare-bones printer’s simpler setup when you handle multi-page jobs often.

It may not suit you if color printing is part of the routine, or if you need a detailed assessment of its physical footprint before choosing a spot. The listing also doesn’t give more information about paper capacity or security configuration, so those needs may call for checking the full specifications. For a small team that wants print, copy, scan, and fax in one monochrome laser device, the 3101fdw’s listed features point to a practical office workflow, for color work or a known space constraint, those tradeoffs matter more.
