LinkDocs TN830XL toner cartridge

When a home or small-office printer starts running low, having replacement toner ready can help keep routine document printing moving.

The LinkDocs TN830XL is sold as a four-cartridge pack for specified Brother laser printers.

Its main appeal is the stated page yield, the key check is whether your exact printer model is on the compatibility list.

Key points

Each cartridge is listed with a yield of 3,000 pages at 5% coverage, for a stated total of 12,000 pages across the pack. Actual yield depends on what you print: pages with heavier coverage can use toner faster than the reference figure suggests. That makes the pack more relevant for regular document printing than for buyers who only need an occasional replacement.

The listing describes an upgraded smart chip and names compatibility with models including the Brother HL-L2400D, HL-L2405W, HL-L2420DW, DCP-L2640DW, MFC-L2760DW, and MFC-L2900DW, among others. Keep in mind that this is a toner-only purchase: the DR830 drum unit is not included. From the way it is set up, the important first step is matching your printer model and confirming that you need toner rather than a drum.

Best use cases

This pack is worth considering for a household or work area that prints often enough to keep spare cartridges on hand. For example, if you print forms and meeting handouts through the week, having replacements ready may be more convenient than buying one cartridge at a time. The multi-pack format also suits buyers who already know their printer uses TN830XL toner and want several replacements in one order.

It is a narrower fit if your printing is infrequent or your printer is not among the listed compatible models. The product name and compatibility details focus on TN830XL, so don’t assume it will fit another Brother printer just because the brand is the same. A single replacement may also make more sense if you do not expect to use several cartridges.

Tips for day-to-day use

Check the printer’s exact model number before choosing this cartridge, especially if the model name includes a suffix such as XL or DW. The listing includes several related models, but compatibility is not universal across Brother printers. Keep the included user guide with the cartridges so it is available when you install a replacement.

The 3,000-page figure is based on 5% coverage, not a guarantee of the same output for every mix of documents. If you regularly print dark graphics or pages with dense text, plan for the cartridge to run out sooner than the stated reference yield. Also, if a printer needs a drum replacement, this pack does not supply that part.

Before you decide

How many cartridges are included? The package contents list four TN830XL toner cartridges and one user guide.

Is the DR830 drum included? No. The listing specifies toner only and says the DR830 drum unit is not included.

What is the stated yield? The listed estimate is 3,000 pages per cartridge at 5% coverage, or 12,000 pages for the four-pack.

Should you buy it?

It makes sense if you have one of the listed Brother models, use TN830XL toner, and would rather keep multiple replacements available than shop for cartridges one at a time. The stated yield may be useful for planning, as long as your pages are reasonably close to the 5% coverage reference. Not the best choice if your printer model is unlisted, you need a DR830 drum, or you print too rarely to use a four-pack. In those cases, checking the exact replacement part or choosing a smaller quantity is the more practical route.
