SteelSeries Aerox 5 Wireless Gaming Mouse, 74g, 9 Buttons, 18,000 DPI

Some gaming setups call for simple, essential controls, others benefit from shortcuts close to hand and a choice of wireless connections. The SteelSeries Aerox 5 Wireless is built for the latter, pairing a lightweight design with nine programmable buttons and Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz connectivity.

Its honeycomb shell weighs 74g, while the right-handed shape, side-button panel and up/down flick switch give you several ways to map useful actions during play.

How it fits

For games where frequent actions and shortcuts matter, the five-button side panel and dedicated flick switch let you assign controls to your preferred layout. All nine buttons are programmable, so you can tailor them to different games or play styles. If you mainly want a pared-back setup with only essential controls, a simpler mouse may suit that preference, the Aerox 5 Wireless is designed for players who value customisable inputs.

Choose between 2.4 GHz wireless for gaming or Bluetooth 5.0 for another wireless connection option. Its 74g weight and perforated shell suit fast movements across the desk, while the right-handed design shapes the fit. For example, you could assign commonly used actions to the side panel, keeping them within reach without relying only on the main buttons.

Strengths

The nine programmable buttons make the Aerox 5 Wireless adaptable across gaming genres, with the side panel and up/down flick switch adding convenient places for shortcuts. TrueMove Air optical tracking offers sensitivity up to 18,000 DPI, and three-zone PrismSync RGB lighting can be configured across 16.8 million colours to personalise your setup.

AquaBarrier protection is rated IP54 and shields the mouse’s interior from water splashes, dust and dirt. The manufacturer lists battery life of up to 180 hours, with Quantum 2.0 Wireless supporting the 2.4 GHz connection. Customer feedback often praises the light weight and responsiveness, while opinions vary on wireless connectivity, button response and battery life, some buyers also report durability concerns. These comments reflect differing experiences rather than a guarantee of how an individual mouse will perform.
