HyperX Alloy Origins 60 HKBO1S-RB-US/G Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, RGB

For a gaming setup where mouse movement needs more room, the HyperX Alloy Origins 60 pairs a compact 60% layout with linear HyperX Red switches. Its 61-key design keeps the keyboard footprint small, while RGB backlighting brings adjustable colour and effects to your desk.

A full aircraft-grade aluminium body provides a sturdy base, and double-shot PBT keycaps are made to resist wear, friction and solvents. Side-printed secondary functions help you find extra commands on the compact layout.

Compatibility

Connect it to a PC or gaming console using the detachable USB-C cable. HyperX NGENUITY supports customization options including Game Mode, macros and per-key lighting effects, giving you ways to tailor the keyboard to your setup and play style. The exposed LED design of the HyperX switches makes the RGB lighting visible across the keys.

Who it’s for

This keyboard suits players who want a smaller desk footprint and more room for broad mouse movements, without giving up mechanical switches or RGB lighting. Linear HyperX Red switches are the defining feel: a practical choice for someone looking for a smooth, direct keypress rather than a larger keyboard with a different switch style. The aluminium construction and PBT keycaps also make it a considered fit for a setup used for both gaming and everyday typing.

Buyers often praise the compact format, sturdy-feeling metal casing and smooth, relatively soft-sounding keypresses. Some also report keys or RGB lighting stopping working over time, so reliability feedback is mixed. The included Esc and Space keycaps and puller let you personalize those keys without needing separate tools.

Practical questions

Does it leave more room for a mouse? Yes. Its 60% form factor is designed to free up desk space, making it easier to position a mouse for wider movements.

Can the lighting and keys be customized? NGENUITY supports per-key lighting and effects, Game Mode and macros. The RGB backlighting adds colour across the keys.

What comes with the keyboard? The package includes a detachable USB-C cable, a keycap puller, and Esc and Space keycaps.

When it makes sense

Choose the Alloy Origins 60 when a compact mechanical keyboard is a priority for your gaming desk and you want it paired with linear HyperX Red switches, RGB customization and a full aluminium body. Its small footprint gives mouse movement more space, while the side-printed key functions and included replacement keycaps add useful flexibility to the 60% layout.
