Epson EcoTank ET-2800 Wireless Colour All-in-One Supertank Printer, Black

Choosing a home printer often comes down to convenience versus pace. The Epson EcoTank ET-2800 offers Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and USB connections, so you can choose how to send a job rather than relying on a single connection method.

It prints in colour and can make copies, with a refillable ink tank as its defining feature. That setup may suit regular home use better than choosing a printer purely for occasional, low-volume printing.

The trade-off is speed: its listed maximum is 5 pages per minute in colour and 10 in monochrome. If you often need a long run of colour pages quickly, that figure deserves attention.

Key specifications

The ET-2800 is a black, wireless, colour inkjet all-in-one with a refillable ink tank. It uses four-colour CMYK, drop-on-demand MicroPiezo inkjet printing. Connections include Hi-Speed USB, Wi-Fi 4 (802.11 b/g/n) and Wi-Fi Direct. The listed maximum print speeds are 5 pages per minute in colour and 10 in monochrome.

Copy resolution is listed as 300 x 600 and 720 x 720. Copy speed is 7.7 ISO cpm for black and 3.8 ISO cpm for colour. It weighs 5.17 kg and is ENERGY STAR qualified. A one-year limited manufacturer warranty is listed. From the way it is set up, its appeal is the combination of wireless access and refillable ink rather than fast output, no print yield is provided, so the supplied bottle sizes alone do not indicate how many pages to expect.

Who it’s for

It makes sense if you want a colour printer for home tasks such as printing a document in colour, then making a copy without changing devices. Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct offer wireless options, while USB gives you a wired connection when that better suits your setup. The refillable tank is a practical distinction for people who prefer a bottle-based ink system to a printer centred on replaceable cartridges.

It might not be a great match if your priority is producing colour pages at a high rate. The listed colour speed is modest, and there is no stated paper capacity or monthly duty cycle here to help assess heavier workloads. Those details matter if you expect frequent, substantial print jobs.

Included in the pack

The listed contents are the EcoTank ET-2800 all-in-one, a manual, a CD-ROM for product setup and a power cord. Ink supplies include one 522 Black bottle (65 mL) and one each of 522 Cyan, Magenta and Yellow (65 mL per bottle). The description does not specify a page yield for these bottles, so treat the included ink as a starting supply rather than a promise of a particular number of prints.

When it makes sense

This model is worth considering when you want wireless colour printing and copying in one unit, and the refillable-tank format is more important to you than rapid output. Picture printing a single colour page from a Wi-Fi-connected device, then using the printer for a copy later, the connection choices support that sort of everyday task without requiring USB every time.

For occasional, mixed home jobs, the listed features give you useful flexibility. For frequent batches, especially in colour, compare the stated speed with your actual workload before deciding. A faster printer may be a better fit if waiting for pages is a regular frustration.
