Q-image Compatible Toner Cartridges CF258A

If your priority is keeping a compatible HP LaserJet printer supplied for everyday document work, this two-cartridge pack may suit that need. If you specifically want an original HP cartridge, this is a compatible replacement instead.

Each cartridge is black and listed as including a chip. The stated yield is up to 3,000 pages per cartridge, calculated at 5% coverage on A4 paper.

That makes it easier to judge the pack against your usual print volume, but heavy graphics or dense pages can use toner faster. Which printer model do you have? Matching the exact model matters more than relying on the broader series name.

How to use it

These CF258A-compatible cartridges are listed for selected HP LaserJet Pro printers, including M428 and M404 models, as well as M304, M406 and M430 models. The product details name specific variants such as M428fdw, M428fdn, M428dw, M404n, M404dn and M404dw. Since the listed compatibility includes both series names and individual models, compare your printer’s full model number with the listing before ordering, a shared series number alone is not enough to establish a match.

The pack contains two black cartridges, so it is intended for monochrome printing rather than adding colour capability. For a typical workday, that could mean replacing an empty cartridge before printing a run of forms, reports or other black text documents. The included chip is part of the stated product specification, but the listing does not give further details about setup or printer prompts.

Pros

• Two black cartridges are included, which gives you a spare after the first is installed.
• The listed yield is up to 3,000 pages per cartridge at 5% A4 coverage, a useful reference for routine text printing.
• The chip is included, and the product is described as a replacement for CF258A/58A cartridges.
• A two-year warranty is stated in the product details.

The main trade-off is that the page-yield figure uses a specific coverage rate. Pages with large dark areas, graphics or dense text may use more toner, so the stated maximum should not be treated as a guaranteed count for every print job. The listing also does not provide details on warranty terms or what support covers.

What I’d decide

It suits you if you print mostly black documents, own one of the listed printer models and are comfortable choosing a compatible replacement rather than an original cartridge. Two cartridges may also be practical if you prefer to keep a spare on hand. No further detail is provided about print performance across different paper types or page coverage, so the stated yield is the clearest guide available.

It isn’t for you if you need colour printing, want an original HP cartridge, or cannot confirm your exact printer model against the compatibility list. The choice comes down to that model match and whether the stated coverage-based yield fits your printing habits, if either is uncertain, a cartridge specifically confirmed for your printer is the safer route.
