Smart Ink Remanufactured Ink Cartridges 962XL Combo Pack

When an OfficeJet Pro runs low on more than one color, replacing the full set can be simpler than tracking down cartridges one at a time. This Smart Ink remanufactured 962XL combo includes black, cyan, magenta, and yellow.

It is intended for a range of OfficeJet Pro 9010- and 9020-series printers, including listed e-series models. Check your exact printer model before choosing, a similar model name alone does not confirm compatibility.

If you prioritize having all four colors ready in one package, this set fits that approach. If you prefer original cartridges or want to replace only one color, a different buying route may make more sense.

Getting the most from it

The pack contains one 962XL black cartridge and one each of cyan, magenta, and yellow. Smart Ink lists yields of up to 2,000 pages for black and up to 1,600 pages for each color cartridge, based on 5% coverage on Letter/A4 pages. Those figures are useful for comparing capacity, but actual page counts depend on how much ink your documents and images use. A page of dense graphics, for example, uses ink differently from a short text memo.

For installation, the supplied instructions say to hold each cartridge upside down for 1–2 minutes before fitting it and to wear the included gloves. The first installation may take about four minutes for recognition. If an “Altered or Cloned” message appears, the instructions say to select OK to proceed. That extra prompt is worth knowing about if you expect a completely hands-off setup.

Why it’s worth it

The practical appeal is the complete color set and XL capacity in one purchase, rather than having to assemble a set from individual cartridges. That can be handy when a home office prints a mix of letters, reports, and occasional color pages and wants the main ink colors available together. Worth considering if you need replacements for a supported printer and would rather have all four cartridges on hand.

The cartridges are remanufactured, not described as new original cartridges. That distinction matters if you specifically want original supplies or would rather avoid the recognition step noted in the instructions. The listing also states that live customer support is available around the clock, including holidays, use that as a support option, not as a substitute for confirming the printer match first.

Worth noting

Compatibility is the key detail to get right. The listed models include OfficeJet Pro 9010, 9012, 9015, 9018, 9020, and 9025, along with various e-series versions such as 9010e, 9012e, 9015e, 9018e, and 9025e. The description also claims support for HP+ and HP Instant Ink-activated printers, but it is still sensible to match your exact model against the product listing before ordering. The model range is broad, yet the cartridge is not presented as a universal fit for every printer.

It may not suit you if you need just one replacement color, want a cartridge described as original, or do not want to deal with a first-install recognition message. The instructions’ note about the “Altered or Cloned” prompt is a specific setup consideration, not a reason to assume every installation will behave identically. From the way it is set up, the main trade-off is convenience of a full XL set versus the extra compatibility and setup checks that remanufactured cartridges call for.

When it makes sense

Choose this combo when your printer is one of the listed OfficeJet Pro models and replacing black plus the three colors together is useful. It suits routine mixed printing better than buying a single cartridge at a time, especially if you value the stated XL yields and can follow the installation directions. For a printer outside the listed range, a single-color need, or a preference for original cartridges, this set is a less natural fit. It also makes sense to allow for the recognition pause during setup rather than expecting installation to be instant.
