Alumicolor Stainless Steel Ruler, 6-Inch

Key points

If you need a compact ruler for quick measurements and short straight lines, this two-pack is aimed at everyday school and drafting tasks, shoppers who regularly measure across larger sheets may be better served by a longer straightedge. Each ruler measures 6 inches and has both inch and metric markings, so you can switch between scales without reaching for a second tool. The stainless steel body, cork backing, and printed large numbers are the main details to weigh when deciding whether this set fits your desk or classroom.

The cork backing is intended to help keep the ruler in place while you work, which can be useful when marking a line on paper or making a small measurement. The listing also says the calibrations and numbers are designed not to rub off over time. That speaks to the printed markings, but the product information does not specify how to clean it or how the cork holds up with frequent use.

How to use it

Place the ruler flat against the page, line up the starting point with the edge you want to measure, and read the inch or metric scale that matches your task. For example, it can help you mark a short margin or draw a line across a notebook page without pulling out a full-size drafting tool. The cork backing is meant to reduce movement as you work, it does not replace careful alignment, especially when a line needs to be exact.

Keep in mind that a 6-inch length limits how far you can measure or draw in one pass. For poster-sized paper, longer layouts, or repeated measurements across a wide surface, a longer ruler is the more practical choice. This pack prioritizes compact everyday use over extended reach.

Practical tips

A pair makes sense for a shared classroom setup, a student who wants a spare, or keeping one ruler at a desk and another in a supply kit. The inch-and-metric graduations are handy when assignments or reference materials use different measurement systems. Large printed numbers may also be easier to scan at a glance than small markings, although the listing does not give their exact size.

Compared with buying just one basic ruler, the two-piece set gives you a backup or a second tool to leave in another work area. Choose it for short, frequent measuring jobs where the cork-backed design is useful. A solid pick if you want two compact rulers with both measurement scales. You may want to skip it if your usual projects call for long lines or measurements beyond the ruler’s 6-inch reach.

Questions before you buy

How many rulers are included? The product is listed as a pack of two, and each ruler measures 6 inches.

Does it have metric markings as well as inches? Yes. The description specifies both metric and inch calibrations.

What is the cork backing for? It is intended to help keep the ruler in place during use. The listing does not provide further details about the cork’s care or durability.

Buying verdict

This set makes the most sense for students, teachers, or anyone who wants a small stainless steel ruler for short measurements and everyday paper tasks. Its dual scales and cork backing add practical touches, while the two-ruler format offers a spare without requiring a separate purchase. The key trade-off is reach: if you often work on larger sheets or need to draw long continuous lines, choose a longer ruler instead. For compact desk or classroom use, the format is straightforward, for large-format work, its short length is a real constraint.
