Pravoluxmax 160-Inch Retractable Baby Gate, 42-Inch Extra-Tall Mesh

Some openings need a barrier that stays in place, while others benefit from clearing the passage when it is not in use. This retractable gate is designed for wide doorways and other large openings, with adjustable coverage up to 160 inches.

Its 42-inch height and reinforced mesh support strips help keep the barrier in place across the opening and reduce gaps underneath. The mesh retracts fully when you want the space open again.

A one-handed gate lock and automatic locking when closed make it easier for adults to pass through while carrying a child or household items. It is intended for children under 30 months or small to medium-sized pets under 45 pounds.

Technical overview

• Type: Retractable mesh baby and pet gate
• Size: 160 inches wide by 42 inches tall
• Material: Mesh, plastic, and metal, reinforced fiberglass support strips
• Color: Black
• Weight: 9 pounds
• Use: Indoor and outdoor areas, including doorways, stairways, patios, decks, and garages

The width adjusts from 0 to 160 inches, giving you flexibility for broad openings such as an open-concept kitchen entrance or a passage between living spaces. When the gate is not needed, retracting the mesh clears the walkway without leaving a fixed barrier across it. The soft mesh offers a different contact surface from a rigid metal fence, while its scratch-resistant design is suited to everyday use around pets.

The dual locking system separates mesh control from passage through the gate. A mesh lock manages extension and retraction, while the gate lock allows an adult to open the passage where they are standing. The gate locks automatically when closed. Fiberglass support strips help prevent children or pets from going underneath and reduce mesh wrinkling as it extends.

Requirements

Installation requires drilling, and the gate should not be mounted on drywall. Adjustable sliding brackets are designed to fit baseboards without additional shims. Choose a suitable mounting location at the opening, then secure the brackets as part of installation. This makes the gate a practical choice when a drilled, mounted barrier fits the space better than a freestanding setup.

Practical tips

Use the gate to create a boundary between a child or pet and areas you want to restrict, such as a stairway, fireplace area, patio, or garage entrance. For example, across a wide doorway between a kitchen and living room, the retractable mesh can cover the opening during everyday activity and pull back when you need an unobstructed passage.

Before choosing a location, consider the full span you need to cover and the available mounting surfaces on either side. Keep the mesh extended and locked when the barrier is in use, and use the gate lock for adult access. The one-handed control is especially useful when your other hand is occupied, while the soft, scratch-resistant mesh suits homes shared with young children or pets within the stated size range.

Buying verdict

For households that need to manage a wide opening without keeping a fixed barrier across it, this Pravoluxmax gate combines adjustable coverage, a 42-inch height, and a fully retractable mesh design. Its reinforced support strips address the gap-underneath concern, while the one-handed access and automatic gate lock make it useful for routine movement between rooms. It makes sense if you want a mounted barrier for a doorway, stairway, or indoor-outdoor transition and have a suitable surface for drilled installation.
