Pentel GraphGear 500 PG523BP4E Mechanical Drafting Pencil, 0.3mm, Pack of 4
Product description
The 4mm tip is designed to work with rulers and templates, giving the Pentel GraphGear 500 0.3mm pencil a practical edge for drafting and precise line work. Its fingertip-weighted design and metallic mesh grip are intended to support control, while the extra-fine lead suits users who prefer a narrow line.
This brown-barrel pack contains four mechanical pencils preloaded with Pentel Super Hi-Polymer HB lead. They do not need sharpening, and a cap helps keep the eraser clean between uses.
Quick overview
The GraphGear 500 is aimed at drafting and template work rather than serving as just another everyday writing pencil. The 4mm tip design is useful when guiding the pencil along a ruler or template, and the 0.3mm lead gives you a finer line than the other listed GraphGear 500 sizes: 0.5mm, 0.7mm, and 0.9mm. Those alternatives may suit a preference for a broader line, but this pack is specifically the 0.3mm version.
A slim, beveled barrel and metallic mesh grip with soft, latex-free pads provide the stated grip design. The pencil is weighted at the fingertips for drafting and template use. It comes with HB lead already loaded, described as producing a clear, dark line. The pack-of-four format also means you can keep more than one pencil available for a desk, drawing area, or shared workspace.
Usage tips
Use the 4mm tip alongside rulers or templates when laying out lines, and keep the cap in place when the pencil is stored to help protect the eraser. Since this is a 0.3mm pencil, check that the fine line is what you want before choosing it over a thicker size. The other listed lead sizes are separate options, not additional sizes included in this pack.
Getting the most from it
For technical sketches, template work, or careful notes where a narrow line is useful, the combination of a fine lead, weighted feel, and mesh grip is the main reason to choose this model. What matters more for your work: a slim line or a broader, more prominent mark? This version prioritizes the former. Its mechanical format also avoids sharpening, which can be convenient when moving between writing and drafting tasks.
A solid pick if you want four 0.3mm mechanical pencils for ruler-assisted work or other fine-line tasks. You may want to skip it if your usual work calls for a broader lead size, the listed alternatives are 0.5mm, 0.7mm, and 0.9mm. The product details identify the included lead as HB, so consider whether that lead grade suits your intended work before buying.
What to clarify
What lead size is this pack? It is the 0.3mm version, the other sizes listed are separate GraphGear 500 options.
Does it arrive with lead? Yes. The pencils are described as preloaded with Pentel Super Hi-Polymer HB lead.
Does it need sharpening? No. The product information describes it as a mechanical pencil that never needs sharpening.
Is it worth it?
Choose this pack when a fine 0.3mm line, a 4mm tip for rulers and templates, and four pencils in one set match your drafting or writing routine. It offers a more specialized approach than a basic pencil, with a weighted design and mesh grip intended for control. If you prefer a broader line, one of the separately listed lead sizes may be a better match.
