My Mahjong Trove American Mahjong Set, 160 Tiles

Best use cases

Some Mahjong sets are chosen mainly for occasional play at home, this one is arranged for players who also want to bring the game to gatherings. The carrying bag and four all-in-one rack/pushers make transport part of the setup, rather than an afterthought.

It’s a great fit if you play American Mahjong and want the tiles, racks, and basic accessories together. The included manual can also help players get oriented before a game.

A practical example: pack the tiles and rack/pushers in their bags, bring the set to a friend’s house, then use the wind indicator, dice, and chips during play. The set follows American/Western rules, though, so it isn’t a match for someone specifically looking for a Chinese-rule set.

Product specs

The set includes 160 engraved melamine tiles: 36 Dots, 36 Bams, 36 Cracks, 12 Dragons, 16 Winds, 8 Flowers, 10 Jokers, and 6 blank spares. Each tile measures 1.2 x 0.9 x 0.59 inches (30 x 22 x 15mm). The listing describes the characters as clear and the tiles as designed to resist fading or discoloration, it does not provide independent durability information.

You also get four all-in-one rack/pushers, a Mahjong manual, three dice, one wind indicator, chips, a tile bag, and a drawstring bag for the racks and pushers. The printed carrying bag measures 21.2 x 3.15 x 11.8 inches (54 x 8 x 30cm). If table space is limited, compare your available area with the tile dimensions, without that measurement, it’s difficult to know how comfortably the racks will fit on your playing surface.

Where it shines

The main draw is having a complete American Mahjong setup that can be stored and carried as a set. That is more convenient than piecing together tiles and accessories separately, especially if your games move between home and social gatherings. The engraved characters and pink tile design give the set a distinct look, while the melamine construction is a practical choice for regular game nights.

The trade-off is that portability doesn’t mean the kit is especially compact: the carrying bag is over 21 inches long, and it comes with several separate pieces to pack. It may not suit you if you want a small, minimal travel set or if your group plays Chinese Mahjong rules. Players who already own racks and accessories may also prefer buying only the tiles they need instead of a full set.

Final verdict

This set makes the most sense for someone starting or refreshing an American Mahjong setup who values a coordinated kit and the option to take it to gatherings. The manual, racks/pushers, and included accessories reduce the need to assemble the basics separately. Its clearest limitation is the rule set: it is intended for American/Western play, not Chinese rules. Choose it for that specific style of game and a portable, all-in-one arrangement, look elsewhere if your group uses a different rule system or you need a more compact carry format.
