Elbow Room 470424 Double Twelve Dominoes Mexican Train Set with Colorful Tiles

Some domino sets are built around a quick, familiar round, others offer more tiles for longer play and additional game styles. The Elbow Room Double Twelve set brings 91 colorful dominoes together with train pieces, a starter piece, a score pad, and a tin case for organized game nights.

For ages 8 and up, it supports Mexican Train as well as classic Block and Draw games. The double-twelve format offers a middle ground between double-nine and double-fifteen sets, with more tiles than a traditional double-nine set for longer rounds and play with larger groups.

What stands out

The color-coded pips make it easier to distinguish tiles during play, while adding a visual way for children to practice color recognition. The set’s 91 numbered dominoes pair with 10 train pieces and a starter piece, giving players the components to set up Mexican Train and keep track of each player’s train. A score pad helps organize scores over successive rounds.

The pieces are plastic, and the complete set packs into a tin case measuring 7.5 x 4.5 x 3 inches. That compact container keeps the game together between sessions and is practical for storing with other family games or bringing along for a visit.

Key features

Double-twelve dominoes work for more than one game format. Use the tiles for Mexican Train, Block, or Draw, so the set can suit different preferences at the table instead of being limited to a single style of play. The starter piece and train markers support Mexican Train gameplay, while the score pad gives players a place to follow totals. Looking for a game that combines number matching with a little planning? Players choose where to play tiles and follow the changing trains and scores as each round unfolds.

The set is intended for ages 8 and up and can be played by two or more people. Buyers often praise the gameplay, while feedback on color vibrancy and tile size is mixed. Some also report chips on the backs of tiles. The listed components include a score pad, a few buyers say theirs was missing, so it’s worth checking the contents when setting up the game.

Who it’s for

This set suits families looking for a shared tabletop activity that can bring together number recognition, matching, and strategic choices. Its age recommendation makes it a fit for children ages 8 and up as well as adults, and the range of game styles gives a group options for different rounds. The colorful markings can also help younger players identify tiles as they learn the flow of play.

When it makes sense

Choose this double-twelve set when Mexican Train is the main draw, but having Block and Draw available matters too. It’s a practical format for family game nights, repeat rounds, and gatherings where players want more tiles than a double-nine game provides without moving to a double-fifteen set. With the train markers, starter piece, score pad, and tin case, the set brings the key listed components together for play and storage in one package.
