My Mahjong Trove American Mahjong Set, 1.2-Inch Tiles

If you want a set that’s ready to bring to a social game, this one bundles American Mahjong tiles with a carrying bag and several accessories. The engraved characters give the tiles a clear, finished look for play.

If you prioritize portability, the included bag makes the set easier to take to a gathering. If you prefer a setup that comes with racks, note that racks are not included.

The rules matter, too. This set is designed for American Mahjong and is not suitable for Chinese rules.

Where it shines

The set includes 160 melamine tiles: Dots, Bams, Cracks, Dragons, Winds, Flowers, Jokers, and blank spares. The characters are engraved, and each tile measures 1.2 x 0.9 x 0.5 inches. That gives you a complete tile set for American Mahjong without needing to assemble the tiles from separate purchases.

For a game night, you can carry the tiles and accessories together, unpack them at the table, and use the included manual as a starting point if you need help with the rules. The bag is described as lightweight and has white prints, its dimensions are 12.79 x 3.14 x 7.08 inches. Melamine is the stated tile material, while claims about long-term color retention come from the product description rather than independent testing.

Worth considering if you want an American Mahjong set with a manual, dice, a wind indicator, and chips included. It’s not for you if your group plays Chinese Mahjong or expects racks to come in the package.

Quick overview

The box includes 36 Dots, 36 Bams, 36 Cracks, 12 Dragons, 16 Winds, 8 Flowers, 10 Jokers, and 6 blank spares, along with a carrying bag, a Mahjong manual, 3 dice, 1 wind indicator, and chips. The chip quantity and the manual’s specific coverage are not stated, so don’t assume either detail before choosing.

The tiles are melamine, with engraved characters, and the set is listed as following American/Western Mahjong rules. This is a more travel-friendly approach than buying a table setup with racks included, but you’ll need to supply racks separately if your usual game uses them. The tiles’ dimensions are provided, there’s no stated tile weight or information about how the bag is divided inside.

Best use cases

This set suits casual American Mahjong sessions at home, a friend’s place, or a gathering where you want to bring the tiles and listed accessories along. The bag is sized to hold the set, making it practical to pack before heading out, it doesn’t replace a rack or other table accessories your group prefers.

It may also work for someone learning American Mahjong, since a manual is included. Still, the listing doesn’t explain how detailed the instructions are, so players who need step-by-step teaching may want more information before relying on it as their only learning aid. The key distinction is the ruleset: choose it for American play, not as a general-purpose Mahjong set for every variation.

Should you buy it?

Choose this My Mahjong Trove set if your group plays American Mahjong and you value having the tiles, basic listed accessories, and a carrying bag together. The engraved melamine tiles and portable format make sense for moving between game locations, while the included manual may be useful for getting started.

Skip it if racks are essential to your setup, if you need Chinese-rule tiles, or if you’re looking for a complete table-ready kit with every accessory specified. The missing racks are the clearest practical tradeoff. Before ordering, make sure the American ruleset and 1.2-inch tile size match what your group uses.
