Lexar D50E 128GB Dual USB Flash Drive, USB-C and USB-A, Metal Swivel Housing

Move photos from a USB-C phone to a USB-A computer with one pocket-sized drive. The Lexar D50E 128GB has both connector types, so you can transfer files directly between compatible devices without relying on a separate cable. Its metal housing and swivel design keep the connectors together in a compact format for everyday carry.

For moving larger files, its rated speeds reach up to 400MB/s read and 360MB/s write. Actual transfer speed can vary with the host device, and the drive uses USB 3.2 Gen 1 for its listed interface.

Why it makes sense

The dual USB-A and USB-C connectors make this drive useful across different device setups: connect to a compatible phone, then plug into a computer with a standard USB-A port. It’s listed as compatible with iPhone 17, Android devices, and PCs, making it a practical choice for carrying photos, videos, and documents between mobile and desktop workflows.

That direct connection suits quick file access and transfers without adding a cable to your bag. For photo management, the free Lexar app offers backup and media management features on iOS and Android. The app can help make a phone-to-drive backup part of a regular file-organizing routine.

If your main need is a fixed USB-A connection for one computer, a single-connector drive may be enough. The D50E is better suited to switching between USB-C and USB-A devices while keeping one 128GB drive on hand. Buyers also highlight the sturdy feel, useful connector choice, and fast transfers, those impressions reflect individual experiences rather than a guaranteed result.

What matters most

The 128GB capacity gives you room to keep a selection of work files or personal media together. Lexar lists read speeds up to 400MB/s and write speeds up to 360MB/s for this capacity. These are maximum rated figures, the connected device and port affect real-world transfer performance. A USB 2.0 port uses the drive at USB 2.0 speeds rather than the full USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface.

The metal housing is designed to protect the USB-A and USB-C connectors, while the swivel construction keeps them integrated with the drive. At 28.4 g, it is easy to carry between a phone, tablet, and computer setup. The stated capacity is 128GB, the usable amount may be lower after system formatting. For external storage, the connected device must support drives above 32GB to use the full capacity.

Everyday use

A practical routine is to copy new photos from a compatible phone to the drive, then connect it to a computer to sort or move the files. For this kind of handoff, having both connector types on one drive removes the need to choose between USB-C and USB-A when packing. Use the connector that matches the device’s port, and keep the drive securely stored when it is not connected.

Final verdict

The Lexar D50E is a useful fit for people who regularly move files between USB-C mobile devices and USB-A computers. Its 128GB capacity, integrated dual connectors, metal swivel housing, and rated transfer speeds bring convenient phone-to-computer storage into one compact drive.
