Lenovo ThinkPad E16 laptop

Getting the most from it

When your workday means spreadsheets beside video calls, a large screen and enough memory to keep several apps open can make a laptop easier to live with. The Lenovo ThinkPad E16 Gen 2 pairs an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS processor with 64GB of DDR5 memory and a 1TB SSD, a setup aimed at busy office, remote-work, and study routines. Its 16-inch, 16:10 display gives documents and spreadsheets more vertical room than a traditional 16:9 screen. Picture working through a long spreadsheet while keeping a meeting window open, the extra screen space and backlit keyboard are practical touches for that kind of day.

You’ll appreciate it if you regularly switch between demanding business apps, browser tabs, and calls, or want wired and wireless connection options in one machine. Two USB-C ports support Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort 1.4, while HDMI 2.1, Gigabit Ethernet, and an included 8-in-1 USB-C hub give you more ways to connect a display or accessories. If you prioritize a larger workspace and substantial memory, this configuration has a clear use case, if you prefer a lighter, more compact laptop, its 16-inch format may be less convenient to carry.

Why it’s worth it

The appeal is the combination of a capable processor, generous memory, and roomy storage, rather than one flashy feature. The Ryzen 7 7735HS has 8 cores and 16 threads, and AMD Radeon 680M graphics are integrated. That should suit multitasking and everyday content work, while the 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD provides local space for documents and other files. The fingerprint reader and TPM 2.0 chip add security features, and Windows 11 includes business-oriented options such as BitLocker, Remote Desktop, and domain join.

There are trade-offs. The display is a 1920 x 1200 IPS panel with an anti-glare finish and 300 nits of brightness, but its listed 45% NTSC color gamut makes it a less convincing fit for color-critical editing. For that work, the gamut is worth weighing, without that measurement, color suitability would be harder to assess. It’s not for you if accurate color reproduction is a priority or if you need a compact travel-first machine. The listing also describes a 720p camera, so frequent video callers may want to factor that into their choice.

Buying verdict

This configuration makes the most sense for someone who wants a large-screen work laptop with plenty of memory and storage, plus ports for a desk setup. The hub can help when you need extra connections, while Ethernet offers a wired option for a home or office network. A simpler laptop with less memory may be enough for email, browsing, and light document work, the E16 is more compelling when you expect to keep several applications open or handle heavier business tasks. Its screen’s color gamut and 720p camera are meaningful limitations, though, so choose it for productivity rather than color-sensitive creation or a camera-focused setup.
